Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

My experiences with the Harley crowd

Question:

What do you do if you spot a Harley that isn't leaking oil?

Add some...

Harley riders are a strange breed, I came from a biker background with my dad and two uncles owning Harelys and having colors in there past. They have the "Jock" additude, in a group they believe they are unstoppable, if alone they arn't so bad.

When I drive my Corvette, every vette that passes me all throw up a hand and wave, as I do to. I don't wave at every car that drives down the road so does that make me stuck up, or put me in the prick group like Harely riders that don't wave? Its a family thing to a Harley rider, its not a "Hey look we are both on 2 wheels.. rock on!" kinda wave.

Anyways, when Im riding I'll wave at most every bike, just a low wave, maybe a finger off the grip or a nod. I get returns 90% of the time from all makes and models and the only time it ****es me off is when a Harley guy doesn't wave and sticks his nose in the air like hes better then me for some reason. I just wonder how they feel at night. A few times someone waves at me and Im in a bad mood or just blow it off and don't wave back I think about it for the next few miles, thinking, oops I bet he thinks Im an ass now. I should turn and go wave to him.

I figure they are not being rude.. It's just that they are to scared to let go of the bars.

The cool guys are the ones who still throw out a wave leaned over in a turn. :D

hahahaahahahahaahhahaahahhahahahahahahahahahhahha
That is a cool a$$ answer, gonna steal that one! nice one!

....they almost all wave back at me, or give me the head nod at a stop sign... even when on my 650G...

.....ESPECIALLY when on my 650G....(just correcting a typo there. I'm sure you don't mind....:D)

This happened to me and my father-in-law last year. We was going to do ride for cancer. Everyone riding in it had to meet at Freeze Harley, now the advertisement said all bike welcome but when we got there it was a different story. At the time I was riding a Honda and my father-in-law a Kawasaki Voyager. Anyways there was hardly any jap bikes there and the harley riders snubbed us so we left

i personally get a kick out of the whole "Harley" thing... "Buy American", thats what the harley bumper sticker said. I read this while at a customers house. He had the harley eagle and it said buy american under it... IT WAS ON A HYUNDAI ELANTRA!!!!!!!!!!!! I then told him that if I can buy a jap bike for thousands less that completely outclasses his overpriced piece of $h!t.... WHY NOT? none the less, I do wave t um.... as a FEW are good ppl and wil even wave back. Most of them around here just drive by and don't even give you the time of day. and how bout those outfits? you can wear whatever you want AS LONG AS ITS BLACK AND LEATHER

What kills me; a friend of mine has an 08 softail, that he's "done alot of work to"... what, changed THE carb jet, and bolted on some chrome? LAMO! In general, I get alot of waves. One thing I have really gained is some severe bonding with my bike. I liked it the first day i saw it, poured sweat and tears(from the cash I've put into it,because I'm a cheap arse at heart) into it. But I have gained so much knowlege in these past couple of months.
Pride from complements means so much more now.

Wanna wave back, make sure that you learn this "brotherhood wave" and use it accordingly. ;)

Some riders go out of their way to wave...

Some folks just shouldn't be waving...or even riding...

This rider was waved to by a passing group of classic GS bikes and wisely brought his bike to a complete stop before returning the wave, showing perfect safe form for returning the gesture when riding an HD style bike. Unfortunately, the GS's had already vanished over the crest of the road behind him.

Why Harley Riders Don't Wave
Hey!! look at me, cool dude harley rider, no, I'm not waving at you, just making sure you get my picture right after i catch those rice burner sportbikes! I'll be back to get it! Chill.

Oh no, I forgot what happens when you take one hand off the bar too long, I also forgot what happens when you chase rice burners, those super comfortable foot boards lift your front wheel off the ground.

Eject!, Eject!, Eject!, Ahh it's ok, I have my regulation Harley Uniform on, MY SKIN!!

Ya think he has any road rash?? I dont get it!!

Wow, I don't know how those guys do it. Ridding out there on all that clear and dry pavement.

Must be that technique where they hike out in the turn. Yea when you lean the bike over and you counter lean to pick the bike back up.

Humm looks like he planted his right foot rest and lifted the front tire due to the excessive lean angle (that he was trying to counter lean to). Humm, maybe Harley guys should just stick to the straight.

Errrrrr....... they don't seem to do the curves so well.:(

That guy was doomed from the start. So class, anyone want to tell us why? Except you Jim!

I've gotten polite, if seemingly unenthusiastic, return waves from the Harley crowd. But, I'm a new rider. Maybe they can tell and are just being nice.
