If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cafe, choppers are for morons.

+1 on the chopper thing. Doesn't take much imagination to make something look slow. Choppers have slow V-twins, not sweet inline 4's! Make a badass cafe out of it! Check out the boys over at www.dotheton.com. Lots of ideas out there, and the aim for everything is to keep the costs down.

Cafe or superbike style for sure. If you had gotten an "L" then that would make a chopper. But you have a sweet beginning for a sporting style machine.
The rear wheel will be easy for you, there are plenty of used early GSXR wheels out there that will go in there with little work.

Looks like a Bandit front end to me with the 1100 ET/EX style swingarm.

Its gone a little from being standard which is my preference so why not customize it into an old classic with modern running gear. So bandit 12 swingarm, wheel and MONO-shock conversion.

Suzuki mad

I will take more pics of the front end.. not sure what mods were done before my coz got it.

You can sell the tank to pay for other parts.
Suzuki used the small rear axle up through the mid 90s if not longer. I have a Yamaha R1 wheel on the back of one of my projects, All it took were some spacers for the 28mm bearings to run on the small axle.
Basically look at the Bandit, Katana and early 90s GSXrs for rear rims till you find the match for your front.

what about the brakes in the rear? and sprockets?

I think those handlebars are mounted on the wrong sides, They should be forward of the fork tubes angling back. This will allow the levers to mount up properly.

ha i know right.. i will do that tonight:p

The sprocket and hub should match the rim but there is some interchangeability from early to late.
The brakes can mix and match, there is allot of swapping available with them.
But it is safest to find as much from the bike you get the wheel from to make it easy.

dont i need the offset on the front sprocket right?

anyone know whats the best way to get surface rust from the frame?

Correct, I do not have the final answer on that. I have a machine shop so I tend to make things work. I do not know when the chainline became wider or if you need offset front sprocket for the mid size rear wheels. Later this week I will be working on a rim swap on my 79 550 so I myself will be learning a bit there.
If I am correct the 1000 has a wider spacing on the chainline and the difference can be made up in the sprocket carrier on the early bikes.

thanks bro your info is very helpful:D

I'm going against the grain on this Rooster....
If this build is just a fun project bike, not your major form of transport,
I say build a low slung drag bike!
You always see Cafe's and Chop's or Bobber's.....throw 'em something really different that will turn some heads!
Make it low and loud and long:)

example....

Seriously, how much fun would this be at the redlights???!!!!!

If that ain't in the budget, I'd say cafe style.;)

Strip it down and get it blasted and 2 pac painted.Get all the little brackets etc done as well.Surprisingly cheap and will come up like a new one.I stayed away from powder coating as that required cutting all the fiddly things(wiring harness bits etc) off the frame.I got the frame ,swingarm and 48 pieces done for less than $300.Cheers,Simon.:)
