DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just picked up this 1985 Gs 700 and love it so far. I wam looking to do some minor mods when the weather gets cold here in Ohio. THe first main thing I want to do is change the handlebars. I am looking for anything really. I like the Idea of clip ons but they are a little pricey for me. Please advise of any other options... I just want something lower than the stock ones are. Also, please let me know of any other minor mods you may have in mind.

Thanks!!

Matt

Clubman bars, race type, low like clip ons, 4 into 1 pipe, may have to rejet. I'd keep the stock air box unless your into carb tuning with jets, I'm lost on that stuff. It's a nice bike, nice color.

Check ebay for the clipons if that what you think you want.

Also think about a set of dirtbike bars, cheap on the bay as well.

I hated the stock bars on my 82.

That bike already has some kind of clipon with a large rise. Comes off the top of the triple. You'd have to get some bar risers fitted to the top triple to make use of the bard being recommended above.

I think Fast from the past is the only place that does a 37mm clipon option.

Dan :)

I dont think the bars on there now are clip ons... they look to attach to the top of the triple with an allen screw on each side.. I would like some superbike style bars but am not sure what else i need to get them attached to the triple... any help would be awesome!

I've got 37mm Vortex clip-ons....about $135.00usd. Replaceable bar inserts are available cheap, too.

sorry for a NEWBIE question but....

what IS the difference between , let's say, CLUBMAN style handlebars and CLIP ONs ? besides the price? better handling ?

You might want to look for some 700/750 ES handlebars since they are lower than the E bars.
