If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Well, I figured I might as well start a riding in the early spring thread too instead of posting my ho-hum dull riding tales in someone else's thread.

My first day out on the road (Friday, 3/11) was just a short ride to make sure my bike was still working as well as when I put her away for the winter. Yep, she was, and I took two pictures, ostensibly for the riding game thread.

Now today, I had to put a check in the bank for the mileage my wife incurred on her business trip to the twin cities last Thursday, so she'd have money to fill the Suburban for her business trip back down there to visit another customer tomorrow.

I took the direct route there on the divided 4-lane highway, about 22 miles from my house. Didn't bother with any pictures, but, I decided the trip home would be on the more challenging (still sandy on the curves and snowmelt running across the road) and fun twisty bits. Some might call it "the long way home". I only took two pictures on a road that Ian and I rode on when I took him on his first day tour while he was here from Australia (you might have seen this road in pictures then, but it looked different).

Anyway, here are the picts, I put in 70 miles today.

Hey, it's sunny, not snowing or raining and 40* F. It was a great day for a ride and I'm breaking in my new AeroStich Roadcrafter riding pants while I'm doing it. My wife got them for my Christmas present because my old ones were stained and totally worn out.:D

Hi Dan,

There's something oddly beautiful about riding your motorcycle in the snow.

Some friends and I took a ride a couple of weeks ago...

I'm glad to see you out and about on your GS850G "un-L". ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Yeah, I was hoping to catch a snowmobile in my pictures, but the only ones I saw were on trailers, nobody riding yesterday.

Another 50 miles in today, no pictures though. First tank of gas since last year, 32.2 mpg, it'll get better.
I had one scary parking lot to negotiate, it was like a softening ice rink...

i put 70 miles on in the past 3 days, its nice to get out on the road again, and see a few early spring diehards out braving the 40 temps :)

75* tomorrow and 77* Friday here. Yeah, I will be riding.:D

Took my wife out to dinner last night, it's the earliest ever that she's ridden pillion. I bought her new riding clothes last year, and a new HJC modular helmet from NewEnough/MotorcycleGear.com , she wanted to try them out. 60 mile round trip, she got a little chilled on the return trip though, and says she won't be riding until temps are steady in the high 40s-50s, but overall she enjoyed it.:D:D

It was a little chilly this morning, so, I didn't ride into work, but, I'm going home at lunch and jump on the 750. It's going to be near 70 today. :dancing:

EDIT:: AAHhhhhhh......that's better. I rode the GK instead, the 750 had a flat rear tire, the valve stem developed a leak over the winter. I don't work very far from work about 4 miles or so, but, it's nice to be on the GK !!!!!!!!

I recognize the one spot you stopped at by that small bridge I think..Ive been through their a couple times last year...kind of glad mine is still partially apart..I'd be tempted to go for a ride..but I'll hold off a bit til the ice and snow is clearly off the roads...great pics tho..thanks for sharin.

First true ride to work this morning. About 25 miles. Ahhhh spring where have you been???

It's sunny and 21*F right now, supposed to make it to a high of 36*F this afternoon, so my ride today is going to have to wait until it warms up to at least 33*F.:(:D

Hey Dan...if you hold down the ALT key and type 167 on your key pad, guess what you get...
That's right, this: ?

Just a tip...

About 110 miles for me this year already. Earliest I ever went out.
Usually I worry about salt, but we had some serious rain during the first big warm up...:)

Thanks for the tip. I wondered how to do that without going into my Word program to get the special characters.:D Currently 27 * F (must not work with Vista, I just tried it, still have to get my special characters map out).

Should work...I use it in both Win 7 and XP...you need to use the right side Num pad for the 167, not the numbers on top of the key board...

Oh, OK. I don't have a right side number pad on my Toshiba satellite laptop....:(

You should have a set of blue numbers on your left side (asdfqwerzxcv) alphabetic keys that if you push the FN button you can access. This gives you the number keypad option.

Course I don't have your model laptop around so I'm going off what I know from the Dells I worked with.

OK, my gray numbers 1-9 are on j,k,l then, u, i, o and 7, 8, 9. Lets see what that does....It's all the way up to 27* F.
I don't know what I just did, but I screwed up my keyboard messing with the FN key. I've got to figure out how to undo what I've done to it now.

OK, got the keyboard back to normal now, but I still can't get the deg. sign. Oh, well, another hour and I can go for a ride.
