A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello everyone.
I'm back again because my seat is confusing me, and I'm going to need help identifying it so that I can either re-cover, or replace the seat because it sucks. The seat is pictured on the bike below. I know it's not original because whoever re-covered it last did a crappy job.
Bikebandit.com's parts breakdown shows a seat for my bike to look like this: http://ddaum.home.mchsi.com/seat.jpg, and the original seat on a bike like mine looks like this: http://ddaum.home.mchsi.com/seat2.jpg. You can't really tell from the pic of my bike below, but the seat pan gets wider around the rim/back of the rider position. It looks like the seat pan that is supposed to be on the bike does not get wider in the middle. Can anyone tell me if a seat like this (below) will fit my bike? It's supposed to have come off a 1981 GS650E. Will it fit my bike?

Well, I was able to do a little more research and comparing of pictures on eBay. I think the seatpan currently on the bike is the original, but one of the POs must have replaced the foam as well as the cover. Does anyone know where I can order some new foam and a new cover for my seat? I've seen a few websites for the covers, but nothing for the foam. Anyone?

PS - I want to get rid of this King, Queen seat look, that's why I want new foam.

ddaum, in 1983 I ordered a king-queen seat for my V-45 Magna from J.C. Whitney. What I received was the foam and cover shaped exactly as I wanted, and all I had to do was remove the original foam and cover from my seat pan, and attach the new material. Worked very well. I'm not typically a fan of J.C. Whitney, but in that case everything was perfect. I would suspect that they probably have something similar to what you need, even an original equipment type replacement. Good Luck in your search

Thanks for your help jimcor, but I looked on ebay and I'm bidding on a stock seat. If I can get it cheap, I'm going to just fix-up and paint my seat pan, put the stock foam on from the seat on eBay, and order a new seat cover online. I'll post pics once everything is done.
