    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I recently came across a 1983 GS550L, and bought it for my wife. It had a basterdized ignition system. Previous owner cut out the igniter, and the pickups and put in a Dyna S. Which wont work without the advance mechanism. I have since found an igniter and pickup coils. My problem is that the PO cut out the connector to the igniter, from the coil wires. I have searched high and low for the connector pinout, but cannot find it. What I need is someone who owns one, (must be 1983 GS550) to tell me what wires go to which pin on the igniter. I have all the schematics and thats fine, but nowhere is there mention of which wire goes to which spade lug. As the diagrams do not mention the terminal numbers, and I do not have the original connector, I need to know which wire goes where. I have supplies a picture of mine and labeled the contacts. If anybody would be kind enough to open the covers and tell me where they go, it would be greatly appreciated and I can stop my wife, from killing me.

Other wise I'm gonna have to hop on my magna and drive off into the sunset or over a cliff, whichever comes first.IgniterPinout.jpg

Hi there;

The various contacts for the ignitor are in the manual.

I think Basscliff is still hosting a link to it.

The smallish socket is for the pickup coils but as to what signals what I have long forgot.

Thanks for the pointers, but I do not have the connector that was on the wiring harness, consequently I do not know which wire goes to which pin on the igniter.

I have two Service manuals and neither states the pinout for the wiring harness side of the connector. Any picture would do.
