Needle Valve 1981 GS650E

I am cleaning my carbs and have run into a couple of issues. First question: Is the Needle Valve removable on this bike. I easily pulled out the needle for cleaning, but the piece that it drops into (I have assumed is the "needle valve") is stick inside. There is a bit of give, like there is a gasket inside holding it in place, but I haven't really tugged because I don't want to break anything if its supposed be immovable.

On that note! I broke an arm that holds the float pin. I am going to try to weld it since it does not bear weight but has to stand the test of time in a pool of gas. I am planning on TIG welding to try to minimize the spread of heat. I don't want to melt any gaskets on the above mentioned "Needle Valve". I'm hoping it just needs a strong pull, but if it is not meant to come out, is there a gasket in there at risk of melting?

you will want to do a full strip and dip on the carbs, meaning that everything comes out, gets soaked, and all rubber o-rings get replaced. yes, the needle seat does in fact come out, usually with a bit of persuasion. just be careful to not misshape the soft brass by grabbing too hard with pliers. once everything has been stripped and dipped, spray everything off with carb cleaner. this way there is little chance of having a flame up while you are fixing said arm. do you have photos of the damage? if you haven't already, I would take a good look at the carb clean and rebuild tutorial. it's a very helpful bit of information

It's a clean break. I'll definitely make sure to use plenty of carb cleaner before the weld. I'd assume that would also serve to clean the metal for an optimal weld or should I then clean it with something else.
