A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just received my new emgo coils. Connecting the wright coil to the wright point set is no problem but making sure I don't, for instance, connect the no1 HT lead to the no 4 cylinder is not obvious. Not sure if I did this wright but looking at the original 1-4 coil, no4 HT lead was coming from the longest 'molded' connection on the coil. And, on 2-3 coil, no2 HT lead was coming from the longest 'molded connection on the coil.
Is there any other way to double check I tie the wright HT lead to the wright cylinder ?

The HT leads of each coil are simply the end leads of the secondary winding and so they don't care which plug they fire - coil 1/4 will fire 1&4 or 4&1 - it happens simultaneously, but one spark is wasted. If the paired leads have one slightly longer than the other, that can work to your advantage for extra reach for cyl 4, for example. Same with coil 2/3.

I see. I must have connected the wrong set of points to the wrong coil then or the points setup. The bike starts but it won't rev up when I turn up the throttle handle.

If it starts at all, you've got something right, but still something wrong. It's the kind of behaviour that happens if one coil isn't firing (because of a bad connection on the primary side, or wet for example), when the engine will barely rev and won't pull worth a damn, as well as sounding like wheelbarrow full of coconuts. Narrow it down by pulling plug caps and identify the culprit.
You're sure that one coil is doing 1/4 and the other 2/3? Because barely starting and backfiring is also a result of plug leads being on the wrong plugs. If they're all wrong, it won't go at all, but if two are wrong, it will eventually go but very reluctantly.
