A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello all!
New to GSR, I bought a barn find 1980 GS850G with a Windjammer fairing and Vetter trunk. I am familiar with the 850 since I had ridden one for 7 years. Now I have the barn find running fairly well and it is a nice old bike to ride. The paint is suprisingly good and most of the trim is there too. The old owner had cut the exhaust off in front of the rear axle so I need to remedy that, it's too loud. I currently own the 1980 barn find 850 and a 2012 V-Strom 650. I will try to post a pic of the 850 soon! Any GS owner meets / rides in Ohio?

Welcome to the site. Lots of GS owners from Ohio. Check out Chuck78 (I think that's his username) he has a lot of suggestive routes to ride.

Oh, yay, another GSer in oHIo. :encouragement:

Yes, there are a bunch of us here, but most of us are a couple hours south of you. Some a little east of that "south", some a bit west.

Not really a gathering in oHIo, but we do meet up in Indiana in June. Next year, it will be on Father's Day weekend. Details HERE.

Nice bike (I'm partial to 850s) come on down for a visit when it's running well enough. Or make an appointment, you can trailer it down and we can work on it in my shop over a weekend.

.

Welcome, I ride with a mix-matched group of geezers on Wednesday night's to get supper.
We will occasionally end up in your neck of the wood. Carmey's in Tiffin, Fat Heads in Republic, Rays on The Bay in Bayview and The Tackle Box II in Fremont amongst others.
We have Wing's, BMW's, Harley's, Spyders and my Suzuki.

I live in WV and ride the southeast section of Ohio quite a bit. Lovely roads between Parkersburg and Chillicothe.

Hey you live on the same street as me, RT224 well same street just 150 miles away! (RT224 goes across the whole state of Ohio) 👍

Welcome to GSR.

I would say your 850 is not so ugly.
(but then again, I had 850G with samsonite bags and trunk that look exactly like suitcases - big suitcases.)

Well, the exhaust aint so pretty.
Good to see that you want to do something about that.

Findlay OH to Bedford IN is 130 miles.

Do post pics, and introduce yourself some more.

Dave, Not sure if you need a new map or just get your odometer recalibrated, but STRAIGHT-LINE, it's 213 miles from Findlay to Bedford.
If the road he needs to take has any curves (most of them do, down here), Google Maps says it's 270-285 miles.

Steve,
I did google search "Bedford IN Findley OH" ......
doah.... now, I see I got distance between Bedford OH and Findlay OH ... doah.

Big U,
Do consider joining us in Bedford INDIANA, in June, but you will not want to follow me anywhere now that you see my mapping skills har har har

Although I have managed to make it down to Ohio River and back.

Typically are 25-30 folks from 5-6 states, and 8-10-12 GS's there.
