A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just got the parts from my 81 gs450e back from paint today. I think it came out great (especially for the price i paid)! As of yet, it's unassembled. Let me know what you think.

My next goals are getting the engine and case cleaned up, removing the rear fender, mounting a new tail light and turn signals.

Very nice. I really like the stripes. They add to the wow factor.

Looks very nice. Will look even better on the bike :)

Very sweet.

If you don't mind the inquiry, how much did that set you back to get those parts painted? Curious as to the market rate. Did you get it done at an auto paint place?

Yeah, what HE said... plus, are the stripes actually reflective tape embedded under a clear coat, or is it just reflective paint?

SWEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeet....!!!!

I went to a few auto paint shops in my neighborhood and the lowest quote I got was $850 for just a single colour. I got these parts painted by a younger guy who does it as a side thing while he's in school. He only charged me $300. There are some pinholes and a little tiny bit of orange peel on the tank, but it was DEFINITELY worth the money. He also told me if I can't get the pinholes and stuff out with some rubbing compound, he'd wetsand it and re-clear it for me.

The white stripes are just a basic white base coat (2 coats of white over the primer, then 3 coats of black, then 3 coats of clear).

I just got done putting everything back together (I also put on a new petcock and carb boots.) I'll take pics later.

Ok, here's a pic of the bike assembled. I haven't gotten around to cleaning up the rest of the bike yet, but you get the idea. Now that I look at it, I need to get the fork legs painted.
