DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

ok not sure if this is the right section or not but here it goes.
my buddy and i just picked up 2 1981 suzuki GS550L's. both identical barn finds. we are planning to make some nice bobbers out of them but we have to get them running first. the bikes are in crabby shape right now and we are trying to piece things together as we go. heres our questions. we cleaned the carbs and petcocks, new fuel line, cleaned fuel tanks, and new vacuum hoses. we have the repair manual so we think were hooking things up correctly. we put everything back together, vacuum nipple on the front of the carb to the to the vacuum nipple on the pet cock. fuel nipple to petcock. and both vent tubes to atmosphere. we have good spark. cranked the bikes and nothing. just a few pops. sprayed with starting fluid and a few more pops but no good starts. i took my carbs off and sprayed with fluid and more pops. we covered the intake with a rag and i plugged the crackcase hose with my finger and she fired and ran on starting fluid. covered intakes and didnt plug the crankcase hose and she wouldnt start. does the crank case hose really need to be connected or plugged for it to run?? does it really need the air filter hooked up to run??
i was planning on using individual carb filters such as the K&N filters so if thats the case where would i run my crank case hose? i cant just block it cuz then oil seals would start to leak correct? please help as we are a little puzzled on this? thanks for all the help!!

alright so i see that most people just run that crank case vent to a small filter or just to atmosphere so im not exactly sure why it wouldnt run with this crank case vent not blocked by my finger? any thoughts?
also i see a lot of people run the dynojet stage 3 kit with the filter pods and aftermarket exhausts. but i cant find one for my bike? so i take it they dont make one. any other suggestions?
