    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi everyone, new member from Florida here and I just picked up a 1983 GS750T in pretty good shape with 31k miles on her. The bike runs and drives but has a severe flat spot/hesitation from 2500rpm to 4500rpm at basically any throttle but runs strong from 5000 to redline. It seems to idle good though. The bike is all stock,stock pipes and stock airbox still intact. The guy I purchased the bike from gave me the factory shop manual with the bike which is going to be a great help I think. I took the carbs off today and for some strange reason the bike has 125 main jets in it when it calls for 112.5 stock. Would this cause the poor running conditions? I have new plugs for it and was going to adjust the valves before I put it on the road. Any other suggestions?
 
I forgot to add that the bike had a bad battery when I got it so I know i'm going to have to check the regulator/rectifier and stator. Also since the picture was taken I put one of the saddleman seat covers on couldnt have the ripped up seat on her.
 
Welcome...I am in Sarasota and have a very beat up 1982 version of your bike with 13k on her...I love it......they will be along with your welcome very soon....wish I knew exactly why someone changed your jets...but the guts on here are geniuses and well be along shortly woth more info than you can imagine!! I'll be watching and learning too!
 
Hey its cool that you close and have the same bike from what I've read the T models werent big sellers and are somewhat rare.
 
They don't give this bike the longevity rating of the earlier designs...only 100k miles under moderate stress due to eventual acrueing oil starvation to the top end...so we have to keep the oil clean for the to end, and filled to the top for stator cooling.
 
Thanks for letting me know that. Its the first i have heard about the oil starvation. I didnt do alot of research before purchasing this bike and probably should have. I just loved the way it looked and rode so it was kind of an impulse buy. I gave up my sport bikes 2 years ago when my wife had my daughter and have been itching for another bike.
 
Check the seal of the air filter to the box....that has to be air tight....Most of the guys here have the most faith in the stock air box with the CV carbs, as these carbs use vacuum prrssure to lift the slides. Any air leaks in the intake system destroys the advanced fuel metering designed into the carbs.

I'm planning to change my oil every 1 to 1.5k miles with the Walmart Rotella brand oil made for diesel engines as it has the contents that these engines needed before the formulations were changed for energy saving engines.

I just remembered that I left out the wierdest part of the big jet situation. The bike seems to run better with the choke on. Wouldn't that make it run even richer?
 
yes it would.... but that and the larger jets would make up for a vacuum leak or other lean condition caused by carb issues.. (just a thought)
That said, WELCOME! I like the T's. Similar to my L but seem more desireable for their limited production.

Hooiser, thanks for the reply I think im just going to order 4 carb kits from z1 and take her back to the stock jets. It still has the stock pilot jets in it. Im going to get the valves adjusted properly and double check the charging system and go from there. I do have to say the T drew some attention I took it out for biketoberfest down here and got quite a few thumbs ups you just dont see that many old bikes toolin around down here.
 
We go through bikes like water down here..one of the reasons I moved here....12 months of sunshine...

I moved to West Palm Beach in the early '80s, lasted a whole year then moved back here. That's where I bought my first bikes, couple of BSA's. LOVED the riding season but you need more curves! ;)

Just trailer it up to GA a couple of times a year....sure beats winterizing....

Is that a 4 into 1.......or 2 on your T? They look aftermarket..
 
Hey Hoosier, I was looking at your pics, do you have the part number for the unifilter in your pics? I was thinking of doing something like that. Did you have to rejet the bike?

To the best of my knowledge it's the stock 4 into 2. It says Suzuki on them. I tore down the carbs completely today gonna take them in to work and put them in the ultrasonic cleaners. I was completely wrong on the jet size, they are all stock 112.5 i couldnt see one of the ones. Also got the valves adjusted up today to .004 although none of them were tight most were loose at .006 to .007.
