Register to access the full functionality of the GSResources forum. Until you register and activate your account you will not have full forum access, nor will you be able to post or reply to messages.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys and gals. This summer became a proud owner of a 1982 GS 850G, 1038 true miles on it.This bike was owned by an older gentleman, who sadly passed away, having no wife or children. His estate was auctioned off, and I was the lucky top bidder.
This bike has sat in his heated garage all this time. The last date of registration was 2005.
The carbs were gummed up with " varnish ", I cleaned them but then had to have a mechanic tank them for rebuild. He bench synced them but had no time to dynamic sync them. Any help would be appreciated, a sync gauge ? The water bottle sync gauge ?

Sounds like a great find and welcome to the GSR.

There is tons of good info to be had on this site...http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Number one way to get help though is using the search feature on this site here or use google with the added detail of "site:www.thegsresources.com" included.

Yes, you need to do a vacuum sync job. The Carb Tune tool is the best on the market these days.

Thanks for the comment. Was the knee stitching the result of bicycle or motorcycle, looks sore ?
Now is winter so have time to search for the signals and headlight bucket I need, as mine came with Susuki hard bags and a Vetter fairing.

Suzuki hard bag???hmmmmm.....would love to see some pictures of those. Welcome to the site, and everyone would love to see some pictures of your bike.

Sounds like a great find. Welcome. As mentioned pictures would be great.... and location. There may be a member near you who can offer assistance.

Welcome to GSR.

WHere in general are you located? (add that to your user profile, will then show up on all your postings.)

.

Will load some pics when i figure out how to on this site, kinda pc illiterate lol

mb,

And do tell us about Suzuki hardbags on an 850G.

FOr pictures, best way is to have pictures on some picture hosting site, like Photobucket or other, then that site provides the "IMG code" that you cut-n-paste into the posting. Is a few different ways to do that, and long detailed description for each way.
