A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.
A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
Looks like you had your manifolds on the wrong side of the bike with the pods. The carbs sure hang low in those photos. I've ridden in heavy wind, and rain and never had any problems.
If they only plugged in some bigger mains they may as well not have bothered. The needles are the key component in a jet kit. Shimming the needles can help but the taper is all wrong. With the carbs hanging like that it probably threw the fuel level in the bowls off creating mixture problems. No, a PO only put 140 jets in when they did pipe and pods. Carbs are otherwise stock. I've been avoiding a full rebuild for many circumstantial reasons that keep coming up. She ran good though, just not perfect. I kept doing little bits here and there with much improvement. This however was the best thing I've done yet. When I do my 7-11 swap I will properly build the 36mm 1100 carbs. Plug chops, jetting, needles, everything right...

If you have it running sweet with the airbox then there's nothing wrong with going with it. Better to ride than fiddle.I agree completely. I seriously had no time to fix it. Until this year I worked over the road. I was LUCKY if I put 1k per year on it. When I had some spare time, I rode it. Earlier this year I transferred to the I.T. Dept. in my company. Anyway, now I have the time she deserves. Just don't have the $$ she needs lol. It'll get there this winter. Just tryin to get her through this season before a major tear down and rebuild with a fresh 1100.

So are you selling those pods?
Pm me with a price.
Why does he have to have every GS part in America?Hahaa! Pods are sold already. Eric jumped on them 2seconds after I created this thread. Gotta be quick around here.

Exactly! I sold the filter box coz I knew it would give me jetting, and adjusting grief. Plus I am a believer in K&N filters. Just not out in the open like the pods were. It was only a guess\hope that I would get the results that I did...
Not to hijack your thread, and I like the fact that you went back to the somewhat stock airbox setup, but what is it about K&N filters that you like? I am one for using the stock filter because I think it filters the air better.
Looks like a very good test. I'm sold! Not trying to sway opinions either way, but you may want to read this:

Granted, it's a test on a diesel motor, but it's a pretty good test IMO.
