A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok guys, I am in dire need of help w/ my 82 GS1100E. Here's a list of what I've done. I have a set of accel super coils which give all the proper OHM resistance readings (3 ohms on primary and 12.2k on secondary), working coil relay mod, signal generator tested damn near perfect, new spark plugs (ngk d8ea) and accel 8.8mm wires, carb rebuild, charged battery but still no spark.

I'm getting 11.8v at the + side of the coils but when I follow the procedures to see if I am getting spark at the plugs (putting a tester on the blue/green wires on ignitor) but still not getting anything. I followed the instructions and placed the #3 and 4 plugs on the head to ground them but nothing.

The tester I'm using is a GB Instruments GDT-11 pocket tester. When I do the test to get a spark, the book states to put it at the "1xOHM" setting which I assume is the lowest setting which on mine is 200ohms.

The engine cranks over strong and sucks in gas just as it should. I am just at a loss as to what I am missing or what else could be wrong. I really appreciate whatever help you guys can give.

Noone has any ideas? I really don't want to have to go to a mechanic :(

My guess would be that your ignitor is shot, then. IIRC your bike has mechanical advance and thus should be able to be fitted with a Dyna S DS3-2, but please verify that. The Dyna would replace both the sig gen and the ignitor. That plus your coils, which you have tested to be good, would be your entire ignition system.

Once the bike is running again you should immediately perform a thorough check of your charging system.

Correct, it's mechanically advanced/retarded. I was thinking it could be the ignitor :(. I did get it from flea-bay and I trusted what they said (which was that it was from a running bike). I still have the original one so I will swap it out to see if the original one is still good.

I seem to remember you saying in a previous thread that your old coils were only putting up 1.1 ohm of resistance on the primary side. If so, that's one third the resistance they're supposed to have, meaning your ignitor output transistors would be handling about three times the current they're supposed to. If this ignitor ever met those coils, there's a really good chance that it burned out. Perhaps it was OK when shipped? Situations like that are why auto parts sellers never offer warranties on electrical components!

I thought about that and I have a feeling that's what may have happened :(. Come to think of it, that could even be why it stopped working back in 97 when my dad parked it. Even so, I still have the original ignitor and I'm going to try it out tonight once I get to my dad's place. If it doesn't work then I'll be looking into getting the dyna S ignitor.

Ok, tried out the old ignitor and to my expectation it didn't fire lol. So, now I am about to order a Dyna S DS3-2. And yes, it's a mechanical advance on my bike.
