A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

new 1100 16v engine installed, 3/4 getting strong spark and gas but will not fire. 1/2 run ok. very weird because 3/4 are different coils. Any ideas?

carbs gummed up on that side? Not getting fuel? Slides not moving?

thanks cafekid, but carbs are fresh off my old engine which ran well.
plugs are wet on both cyls.

pulled the plugs to see if you get spark?? might have bad wires...yeah they're on different coils, but its an idea...battery strong? bad thoughts..valve stuck open? compression issue?

160 lb.s across the board. my spark tester shows hot spark on all the new plugs gapped at .028. rechecked carbs, no apparent problems.

Wild! I cant think of anything past that...timing?? noo..two seperate coils...man..have you tried swaping the plugs from two to three and one to four? they may not reach, but two and three should...

err that should be plug wires...not the plugs..

and you could try backing the gap off on those two just a bit..otwoeight is the wide side of the gap...

What are the carbs off of?
Maybe you're rich on the pilot circuit or the carbs aren't synced to the motor.
Is the battery good?

Take CLOSE LOOK to see whether you've inadvertently swapped 3 & 4 coil wires at the plugs. THIS will give the type of problem you're seeing with good carbs and the rest of the ignition in good condition and yet unaffect the paired plugs on the opposite side. Make sense?

drain plugs

drain plugs

unscrew the carb drain plugs of 3 and 4 to see if any fuel in coming thru/

You beat me to it SPARKSS. I had exactly that happen to my 550. Took me a week to work it out. It wasn't till I removed the tank and traced the individual wires to the plugs that I realised I must have put the leads on the wrong plugs. Good as gold once I swapped them back.
