DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

man,

are ya'll touchy!!
time to check your manties and unwad them.

do you honestly think any one is worried about the value of any bikes on here? they are a tool, to be used, abused and rebuilt, etc.

aye but you cant rebuild it if you cut it up.

but again, its jmo. Its your bike, do as you like, and enjoy it.

What a boring world it would be if everyone kept their bikes standard !. One of my GS750`s is chopped, with the frame cut off just behind the rear shock mounts. I put in a brace between the ends of the frame at this point which also provides a fixing point for the rear mudguard. Been riding the bike for over ten years now, no problems with the frame at all. As for ruining a good bike, each to their own, I don`t see it that way. Devaluation, don`t give a toss, don`t intend ever selling it. As for there being a lot of badly chopped bikes about, agreed if the welding is`nt good, but appearance wise thats the owners choice. Just my opinion for what its worth !.

IMO If you want to make a cosmetic change, cut off whatever you'd like. If it affects the function of the bike-as in why Suzuki built the frame the way they did, then put some thought into your plans- cut where you want, but be sure there's a solution for the flex like a crossbar, if you plan on riding it hard.

I'm gonna cut the passenger peg brackets asap but leave my frame as is since it's easier not to mess with what already works.

No one said don't do it, we just offer our opinions and experiences. You don't have to take our suggestions but if you don't want to hear what others think or know then don't ask the questions and don't berate people for trying to help.

Bye the bye, some of us do care about the value of our bikes and while we do use them, seldom abuse them. If you want to thrash your bike....go ahead.

If anybodies touchy, I'd say its you, but that's just my opinion:D

Cheers,
Spyug

lol alot of opinions running wild here!

And that sounds like one more, to me. :p

Seriously...cut the thing! They made more than just one.

This coming from a guy that disected and tortured a bike of another flavor and had a blast doing it. ONE OF A KIND, and as far as the ride-ability of the final project, in a word; SWEET. ;)

me touchy?? doubt it

A website with one too many rude piece of schit on it.
Don't ask a question if you don't want an answer.

I will repeat, as you seem to have difficulties understanding. Don't ask questions if you don't want to hear the answers and don't berate anyone for their opinions.

You asked a question. It was answered in both the positive and the negative. It is a free and open forum after all and everyone is entitled to an opinion. You had no intention, however, of listening to the negative. You insult those of us taking that position. No one insulted you, just pointed out some of the potential "cons" you may have not considered. Some of us are considerate enough to offer our experiences in the hope of saving others from making the same mistakes thats all.

What you do is entirely up to you but have some class, accept what you like, reject what you don't but don't dump crap on any of the members. Just say thank you and move on. Comments like, "don't really give a rat's a$$ about any one's personal opinions on what they are worth, how horrible it is, blah freakin blah.:p" just show your lack of civility. You're not doing your reputation here any good with that.

Spyug.

Hey "Lowpointbuc" ... since you don't seem to possess the maturity to get along with people who you disagree with, save us all the aggravation and hit the road. This forum doesn't operate like many others ... We make it a point to treat others with civility, and we don't tolerate a lack of it from newbies who should know better than to pick fights with longstanding members who DO know better.

FYI, TKent02 and I haven't always agreed on things over the years, but whether you agree with his opinion of not YOU'RE the one in the wrong here. If you wish to remain a member of this forum and start over more respectfully I STRONGLY suggest you apologize for your bad behavior.

Peace out...

another one(GS) bites the dust

another one(GS) bites the dust

another one bites the dust another one bites the dust hey hey. keep cutting those gs up. then you wont be able to touch one. my opinion is find one of those JUNK kz 900 to cut up
or a Yamaha or some junk Honda then we would not be having this conversation but why would you cut up a perfectly good riding gs ? the only thing I could think of has something to do with the crazy handlebars you have on that bike buy a nice set of super bike bars and fall in love with it again spend a little time with some base coat clear coat then you would have a great bike. but that is just my young opinion. p.s. another one bites the dust another one bites the dust hey hey

Thank you. That guy needed to go away. Some people should not have access to a computer.:)

They certainly slam us from time to time, so I feel justified in saying it. He should have gone to oldskoolsuzuki.com they don't feel the pain the way many of us do when somebody wants to turn one of these into a rat bike.
Tkent can be a little.... harsh sometimes, but his main point was valid, if you don't know what tool to use to cut the frame, you should probably think twice about cutting the frame. I'm about to brace mine, but only after doing a lot of research.

Ever since I bought my 850G I've been itching to chop it. The paint is an ugly matte black, side panels are missing, and so on. Restoring it would take less work than letting it slide into chop/rat territory.

The problem is, I've seen too many examples of ugly chop jobs. The seats always end up mangled, the engine+gas tank area is always much taller than the rear end making it look off balance. If you can visualize the whole project enough to know that it will work out, then go for it. Chopping these bikes reduces their vintage value, but a killer custom is worth more to other people.

Like a few others have echoed, if you aren't completely sure what you're doing, and aren't ready to flush the whole thing if it comes out crappy, just leave it alone. Mr. Suzuki was wise in his design, and little tweaks often make things much worse.
