    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I got this bike for my girlfriend to learn how to ride on. The problem I'm having is it won't start, It's getting gas, It might pop every once in awhile. If I stuff a shirt in the airbox it will run fine. what gives? Is it cam timing or something? Any info would be great.
 
is the choke working?
the 550 is a rather cold natured creature with the stock lean jetting.
 
I have the air filter for it yes, but when I stick the shirt in to choke it it will run. Yes the chokes are on also. The shirt creates a suction in the motor and makes it run somehow. When I pull the shirt out it stops running.
 
you bike needs to have the filter installed in order to have it run properly, these bikes are set super lean and with the filter it restricts enough air to allow for the right air fuel mix. if you are running he bike with the oem filter installed and useing a t shirt as well then i would review your carb setting to make sure no one has been meddleing with things. you may want to check you intake boots for leaks as well they can cause lots of problems too.

when I got the bike it had the oem air filter on it and it wouldn't run. The reason the shirt went in there was because I couldn't keep my hand in there to choke it and crank it over. Now that I think about it, it could be the carbs. I'm going to check again. I was thinking cam timing because there isn't much intake suction. Like a valve is open or something.
