I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Oh no, another one.

Bought this today, on a whim. Trolling though Gumtree (online buy & sell) and I was looking for a set of carbies for the GS850, and lo and behold there was a GS1100GK for sale around the corner. I thought that it would be a good spares bike, and messaged the owner. Apparently it was his day rider and he's upgrading to a newer bike, he owns a little motorbike store and has been doing very well selling Chinese quads and bikes.
I was at his doorstep at nine o'clock and we both went though the bike circling it a few times, started it up and went though the desk top full of spares as well. A $1000 later and I went home, got the trailer and loaded it up. Damn heavy bike with all the panniers and fairing on it, but it rides and runs sweet.
Funny thing was there three phone calls asking if he still had, and a guy even came around while we were loading onto the trailer wanting to buy it.
What am I going to do with it, well it's too good a condition to strip for spares, so I'll probably bump it for $2000 at the local bike swap meet coming up, and see if I can double my money. It's just had three months rego paid on it, so I can see this going fairly quickly. There's a growing band of brothers and sisters here in Perth converting these for side cars, and the shafties are very popular. Funny thing is I'm back to square one looking for a number four carby, because the air screw mixutre jet broke in the chamber and we can't get it out.

Looks like a solid GK. Slap a nice paint job on it ad get $4000. You need a #4 BS 32? Would it be worth the cost of shipping it to you?

Nice Gumball machine... :)
Nice deal on the motorcycle. Good luck with the flip.👍

If it's good condition, what's the carby worth? Or can we trade something?

We have the top rear trunk, where do you reckon all the spares are hiding? What does one mean, dee-kayed?

Haha! Yeah saw this one too. $1700 advertised as. Nice deal for $1g. I rang but you must have been there!! dee-Kayed - means stripped of all fairing, panniers rack etc. making it just a g not a gk. :)

Yeah, there were three phone calls on his office phone while I was there his mobile (cell) went straight to message bank.
I've already got it advertised in the side car enthausist crowd here in Perth, I might get a few bits over the weekend. A lady I know who raced Suzuki engined sidecars reckons she spent another $5000 turning a GK model into a cross country sidecar unit, even equipped with a winch. So reliable and tough these old girls.

I would like to see some of her sidecar stuff...or at least hear some of her stories!

Look up Debbie Barlow, probably facebook would give you a better insight into this amazing lady's side car career.

Just been talking to a few "experts" from the GS Suzuki forums here in Australia, and they reckon I should re-advertise it for $2500, before the swap meet on March the 20th. Their rationale is that if anybody sees it in the local papers for $2500 and if they go to the swap meet they are bound to buy it. Swap meets can be funny things, bit's and pieces you think wouldn't sell are snapped up before the thing hits the ground, and some buyers get sticker shock when they see the item, usually at half price.
I walked away with $1100 from the last one a motorbike/car one weeks ago, $400 for a JAWA motor was the biggest ticket item, and being a country one it attracted a big city crowd thinking they were looking at barn finds. Truth was I recognised quite a few city sellers that travelled up for the day, they must of known it was a popular swap meet, the crowds didn't stop all day.
This one we run for the Vintage club is a premium event for the motorbike crowd in Perth, and it gets a few bikes bought and sold each year, I'm guilty on both accounts.

................... What does one mean, dee-kayed?

If take a 1100GK and remove the fairing and the bags and the trunk and the brackets, then it will be like a 1100G. SO I made up the term "dee-Kayed", as in removed the K. (but is also something of a pun meaning has been decayed.)

Most GKs that are around have had the bags and faring and stuff removed, maybe because someone just didn't want that stuff or maybe because of crash damage.
Is still a GK, just a dee-Kayed GK. Will still have the bigger fork tubes and wider apart, and a couple other things where a GK has some differences from a G. And it will not have headlight and will not have turnsignals (and the headlight from a G will not fit).

Haven't got the cash resources or room to keep it, and the 850 has been totally rebuilt to use as club bike in the Post 70's group. If I was going to get another it'll be something to turn into a Wes Cooley replica or a Katana. Then I'd sell off the GS850 to fund that resto project. It's all about the almighty dollar at the moment.
