A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Yes, I need a proper manual! But before i can get one, can anyone tell me whether the best oil filter is the standard / stock Suzuki part, or are there better options (K&N, for example?)

The Haynes manual I've got says 1500 mile engine oil change interval. This seems very low for a bike with a proper filter. No better than old Triumphs, Nortons etc which just have a tea strainer in the bottom of the oil tank. With modern oils (synthetic maybe?) and the best filter, is it safe to extend this interval?

I use HI FLO filters and do oil every 3,000. But I admittedly never actually read any of my manuals service interval recommendations. I havent had any adverse effects so far though.

Should be a HF 133 for your bike.

Do not use fram filters anymore

What's wrong with the Fram filters? Advance usually has them in stock. I have been running them in my bike with Rotella T 15w-40... I've only had the bike long enough to do 2 changes, but both times have been with Fram filter and the Rotella. Next change is coming up. I'm going to do them every 2000-2500 miles or so.

I used Frame for years but the last two I used were defective blew a hole through the side of one, then the second one the end where the pressure relief valve is, the entire metal piece was broken out, right out of the box. Probably just a fluke.

I am now running a stainless filter, and before anyone tells me they don't filter , I already now that, time will tell so far no problems.
I do change my oil a lot, as soon as the shift quality goes down, seems about 1500 miles or a bit more. I take the filter out every spring and clean it.

Google bad Fram filters. There are too many stories about Fram filters destroying motors. Don't know if all these stories are true but there are enough of them for me to believe at least some are true.

I've heard that the FRAM filters are to be avoided on a Triumph forum. Seems they're doing something wrong!

why not just order genuine suzuki? get em a couple at a time so you have them on hand, they are not expensive, and the quality is good. also, the genuine suzuki cover o rings will last thru several oil changes, others often will not.

I run the same oring that comes with the Hi Flo filters several time and dont worry unless I get a leak. I just store up all the orings that come in the boxes. In fact, a few weeks ago i threw 5 or 6 away and just kept 2 for back ups.

Fram are terrible. They pay no attention to the manufacturer's requirements, the filter are poorly made, and I have seen more than one engine ruined by them.

I'd leave the old one another year rather than replace it with a Fram.

I've used Fram filters in our trucks, combines, etc etc even my bike never had an issue with them in 40+ years. Not one failure. That's been my experience with them. I use the K&N oil filter on my bike now since I found them a few years ago.

Suzuki most times for mine but if I go to Iron Pony then I'll get a couple of K&Ns since the come with the orings. I'll also change my oil about every 1500 miles just because and, like others, use the Rotella
