A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok, I know this is a lot to ask,...

I've been getting tremendous help in locating parts for my carb rebuild.

Brent (bgmart450) recommended I look to my local Suzuki shop for parts and they can get me the gaskets and intake boots but no o-rings. So he's sending me some from his personal collection. May the gods bless GSR and Brent!

However, the cost for just the gaskets and intake boots from my local Suzuki shop is going to be in excess of $80.

Could someone look here:

http://bikebandit.com/partsbandit/o...el_dept_id~987994~model_dept_name~GS450LX.asp

and tell me if the intake boots or gaskets are still available from bikebandit, as I don't know what I'm looking for? I don't mind spending the $80 to get her running right, but I still like looking for the best price, ya know?

Thanks,
Mike

Right. #28 is the o-ring for the manifold and #27 is the manifold.
If the manifolds are showing cracks, then they should be replaced to avoid problems. The o-rings should be installed with a coat of hi-temp' bearing grease to help them last. Make sure the o-rings are in their grooves right to avoid pinching them as you tighten things. The grease helps with that too. You should replace the stock Phillips screws that hold the manifold with Allens, then torque to 6 ft/lb.

What about the float-bowl gaskets?
Looks like #17 (in your link.) In Jethro's link, #27 and #28 are correct.
Personally, I always replace the bowl gaskets during a rebuild.

Oh, and it's not a lot to ask. That's what we're here for...to help each other. :)
Any other questions, just ask before you order parts or put things back together.

Hey mike, check for float-bowl gasket sets on e-bay. I have ordered a set of 4 for myh bike for considerable savings.

oh, and I also just ordered some intake boots for my bike . for 4, it came to 125 dollars american, whereas it would have been more at the dealer!

I just bought 4 intake maniford boots at one of the local Suzuki dealer for $25 each.
