DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Options to reduce wind buffeting...?

Hi there!

I have a '83GS 750ES which I just purchased and I'm use to riding my 1500cc Kawi Classic with the windscreen so I was trying to get use to the wind buffetting at speeds over ~100km/hr (60 mph). I felt like a bobble head and did not feel comfortable taking the bike much over ~130km/hr (80 mph). Sometimes I'd like to ride at 130+ on those barren straight stretches so I"m wondering what is out there (if anything) to reduce the wind drag.

Are their fairings that work, taller wind screen or.....?

I can't imagine anyone taking it close to what the speedo is set up for.

It cruises quit comfortably at 60mph.

Thank you!

Tried hunkering down a bit? Put the feet on the back pegs and tuck your head down.

My 700E (no fairing/windshield at all) is very comfortable at 70-80mph. 90mph isn't so bad tucked in. You've got a bit more wind protection on your ES...

Wear ear plugs, that makes a big difference so does style of helmet. I had one with a wing on it that was awful at speed.

There are plenty of windshields around that offer loads of protoection, try http://www.nationalcycle.com/ or JC whitney etc.

A small cafe one looks good but will only keep it off your chest.

Dan :)

I also have been riding behind shields for many moons. It took about 200 - 300 miles to get the feel of riding "naked" again but with some mileage you will adjust your body position to compensate for the wind. Now I kind of enjoy the wind in the hair (inside my full face helmet of course) feel and like the change from the shields.

Google search for Rifle fairings, go for one of the "sport" versions.
