A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone ever done this? I have always heard that if you have the number you can get one made through Suzuki..

If you have the number you can have one made by your local locksmith. The blanks are cheaper too unless you want the plastic part of the key. I had one made for 12 bucks.

Its actually for the gas cap that was replaced and the key is lost. They (locksmith) just need the number?

Yup. They just look it up on the computer and make a key. Probably cheaper in the states than here. Suzuki wants $16.95 for a blank and the locksmith had them for $2.50 for a plain metal one. The rest of the charge is for making it from a computer. If for some reason your guy can't do it. PM me the number and I'll get it done and stick it in an envelope to you.

If you already have a key, go to your local Ace Hardware store. If they do not have blanks in stock they will order them for you. They do not charge much for cutting them either; much cheaper than a locksmith. I bought a bunch for both my GS and Kaw bikes (I had 2 at the time) for not much money.

Bingo. Almost any hardware store can duplicate a key for next to nothing.

I only have one key for my bike

It is just a matter of time...................

KK, just be careful of the Ace as the ones here in Dayton won't touch my key.
You know, my Ace Hardware, the one that so kindly ordered all my keys, told me that they are independents. I guess your owner decided that his store would not perform such a simple task. Mine was more than willing. But he was unwilling to call another Ace store for a bolt I needed when he was out of stock, telling me they were competitors. Hmm.

Your local locksmith should have blanks cheaper than that Joe. I paid $2.50 and your prices are always cheaper than ours.

not useful if you have NO keys, but....

not useful if you have NO keys, but....

I avioded the unthinkable..I lost my spare 2 years ago, and managed not to lose my main key, with its highly sentimental key fob...Got spares made up this morning. The local hardware store did not have blanks. I went to a local locksmith, with an old school shop...Literally 2 walls with key blanks, and lots of cool clutter. He happily looked up the number and made me 2 for 8 bucks. Pictured is the key head if anyone needs the numbers...don't know if it makes a difference, but its for an 85 1150.

I took a Gsxr ignition switch to a locksmith he was reluctant saying it had 8 plates and would take at least an hour and cost $90 for one key. I said no thank you went to different locksmith he did it in 20 minutes and gave me two keys for $35. And they aren't 8 plates.
