DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

"Timid bunch".... jeeeez, I tell you
I was trying to be subtle; pushing too hard would leave me with a coverless seat...Besides, if he knew how tight (the more accurate word) everyone is here he wouldn't bother with us at all. ;)
woodman, you might ask these folk. IIRC, the 83 has a 2-color seat? Pit Replica does a 2-color seat, I don't remember which model it fits.

Is this one yours???

Does that mean they did it?! Cant wait for you to see how it looks! Their craftsmanship seems pretty good...
Yes, that is it. I got it last week but have not had time to install it yet. It looks pretty good, I was going to take it to bwringer's for the installation. He should know more than me about the quality of the cover since I believe he has done them before.

Excellent, George! I've been looking forward to seeing the final result, as I have an arrangement to send two of my covers in to them, but wanted to wait to see how your experience went. Assuming the quality is there I can now move forward as well!

Regards,

We NEEED pics!!! I sent mine in a week or 2 ago and Im SO eager to see how they do!

That is the plan. The pics they show in their ad is the unmounted cover. I plan on taking pics during and after the installation.

Has anybody tried one on a Skunk? They say they make one for 1979 on 1000 "E", "S", and "ET". The "E" and "S" are not the same. I don't care that much if it isn't perfect in each detail, but the "E" has a pretty prounenced hump that the "S" isn't suposed to have I think.

I have installed numerous Saddlemen covers on early 850 and 1000G's. What I really don't lioke about those is the thin foam layer under the vinyl. It makes the seat look way more rounded and puffy. It also keeps you from easily fitting the plastic rails back on. They are pointless, but I want them.

First Pics

Got time to take some pics; got the seat out and test fitted the cover. Looks pretty good.

Underside. It is reinforced with a second piece of vinyl.

The original seat, so you can compare the lines.

Initial report: The quality of the vinyl appears to be good. I found no flaws in the stitching. The fit is very snug and appears to be correct.

I am awaiting some super dense seat foam to insert before installing the cover, then more pics will follow.

Well Koolaid I will admit I was wrong about this company. I was afraid of this being a scam especially since it was an overseas one and not stateside. I'll go back and read your original post about them and see if they can do my 550T since I'm having some problems finding a new cover for it (have an email to one place but not sure yet).

I was concerned, since it was a risk. But they have an excellent eBay rating (99.7% with 1302 responses), so I took the chance.
Best of luck, and remember we'll be setting up a group buy when I get this thing installed and it has members' approval.

Can you PM me their contact info? I was thinking I could see if they wanted to deal on this original 78 1000 seat cover i got from Rustybroncobefore i contacted myn regular seat girl..may be a good group buy on those as well if they can duplicate it as nice as that one is.

Just go to the ebay site http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUZUK...item27b3073b05 and their info is there. You can also search their ebay store and see if they already offer the 78 1000 cover.
Bear in mind that English is at least their second and perhaps third or more language. So you have to read their ads real well and interpret their emails just a bit. Best of luck.

IIRC, I made the original recommendation..... I knew they weren't scammers, because they reproduced a few covers from scratch, for some members on another board (who were quite happy with the product & prices). Had there not been any history, I wouldn't have mentioned them here.;)

Yes you did, and it is appreciated. I'm just waiting to hear from twr1776 who had a piece of the super foam sitting around. If he doesn't work out, I'll just contact Sargent's directly so I can get this thing going. I WANT MY STOCK SEAT BACK ON THE BIKE!
(ANYBODY INTERESTED IN A LOW MILEAGE BLACK ON BLACK CORBIN IN PERFECT SHAPE?)

checked out Pit replicas site but was only able to find a 79 1000 and NOT a 78...unless i missed it..Anyone know of any others that may have the 78 covers??

I would suggest contacting them and see if you can work a deal. Just a thought, since there are so many Skunks here.

Is a Skunk seat different from a 1979 seat?
Good question. The parts fiche at BB show the same part number for both years. While pit-replica's quality is good, the accuracy of their ebay ads AFA model displacement and model years is a bit umm, haphazard. For example, the cover they made for me shows that it fits 1000 machines and that it fits 81 1100 machines, both of which are incorrect.
