A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
All went well with the pick up of the bike. There are a few issues with it as i was well aware of.

Dent in the tank, Left blinker doesnt blink the back one comes on but just stays lit and the front doesnt work at all (Wiring is my specialty so this should be an easy fix), DIRTY!!! Oh my is it dirty, 2nd gear light doesnt work, needs a new sprocket, i'm pretty sure the carb is going to need to be rebuilt soon (have a buddy that knows how im younger so carbs are a little overwhelming for me but it will be a great chance to learn a little).

Other than that started right up & rode great.

As requested here is a picture.

Plans.

Plans.

Here is what im planning on doing to the bike.
Im going to stay around $1500-$3000, and by the looks of it the cost of these parts i may even be able to stay under that. However, i cant paint which is going to pose a problem because i want to pull whatever i can for repainting which i think might eat up a little of my budget.

I bought the bike for $325 (Great Deal Right!)
I will be putting all original parts on or at least replicas i dont think there is anything wrong with the style of these bikes. I Love the look.

1.Clean it - This thing is filthy its going to take some elbow grease and alot of toothbrushes to get it where i like it. After that ill know where i stand as far as replacement parts.

2.Replace handle bars - These are old and a little rusty i might try and salvage them but not sure if ill be happy with the outcome.

3.Dented tank - Possible repair or a new tank...ive looked and there arent to many to choose from that are in any better condition than mine.

4.New sprocket - Easy

5.Carb work - I'll figure it out

6.Fenders - Front and back have some dings nothing major but enough to where i dont like it. I'd like new ones but im so picky i want them to be perfect.

7.Wiring - This is my specialty i can handle it.

8.Repaint - This ill have done perfessionally since i have no clue where to even start.

9.Emblems - Just want them to look new

10.RIDE IT UNTIL THE WHEELS FALL OFF AND START ALL OVER :dancing:

Post a location, someone may have parts you need, or painting expertise and could help you out. For example, I have an extra 550 L tank sitting on my garage floor taking up space.... And the rest of a 550L sitting in a plastic bin. By the way, the bike in your picture is a 550L, not a 550E.
And I like to paint bikes.
