A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have spent about 30 minutes or so looking through previous threads and am getting confused (it seems the name is interchangeable with other names or there is another part with similar names). I read in one of the posts that z1 enterprises sells the pilot air screws but you have to buy the entire kit for around 80 bucks. Is there somewhere to get just one? I broke mine off trying to get it out and then had to drill it out to actually get it out of there.

The Pilot Air Screw is number 18 in the Haynes manual where it deals with the carbs. That is what I am needing and I need only one. Do you all have any ideas on where I could locate one? Do you think the dealership would carry this (or order it) for a 1979 model bike?

Thanks for the help.

I couldn't find the air screw on the OE parts fishe. I have a couple of them from a GS550 - it's the same part as the 850 as far as I know. Let me know if interested.

Let me see if anyone else has any suggestions as I want to make sure that I get the right part. I will be in touch though if I find out that your part will work. Thanks.

The pilot fuel screws are identical between the 550 and the 750/850. Not positive about the pilot air screws but most likely they are the same as well.

I have spent about 30 minutes or so looking through previous threads and am getting confused (it seems the name is interchangeable with other names or there is another part with similar names).

The confusion you mention is the reason I name my parts A through F. You might find it simpler to reference this web page: http://www.cycleorings.com/VMkit.html

Look down the page a ways, and you're talking about part A or part B, probably.

You can order that part direct from your local dealer, up here in Canada it was about $15 for just one. You can order a carb rebuild kit from Z1 (as I did) for $18 + shipping. I have an air screw you can have but I am thinking you need the fuel mixture screw (the real pointy one that brakes soooooo easily). I sent for the rebuild kit from Z1 to get the fuel mixture screw (and it fit) so I am left with all the other parts including the one you want (not sure how that got broken, they are pretty tough). PM me and I'll mail it to you if that's what you need. And just for your reference my kit from Z1 was for the same bike, 1979 GS850 and everything fit perfectly for stock OEM.

Where else but in GSR land could you fine such nice folks willing to help someone out... Kinda restores your faith in mankind, sniff..:)

Robert, it looks more like A in your diagram and it looks almost identical to the one I linked to above except mine does not have a hole in it. The end on mine is not pointed but rounded.

azr has offered to send one that he did not need and it appears to be the right one. Thanks again for all your help and I tell you, it is refreshing to read the responses above and see what kind of people make up this forum.
