A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi I bought a 1980 GS750ET with the fuel valve already converted. The Pingel valve # 6211-CH (which is the correct spec per the Pingel website www.pingelonline.com) is a really nice component however it has only only 1 outlet for the main fuel line and no outlet for the vacuum line. Have Pingel got it wrong or am I missing something ?

Nope...it's all good. No vacumn line on the pingal.
Turn it on to run, off when you stop.

The vacumn port on the #2 carb should be plugged.

HTH,

From what I understand and please somone correct me if I'm wrong.

Simply cap the vacuum fitting on the carbs.

The Pingel is either on or off. No vacuum applied.

Turn it on when you get on the bike. And much more importantly, turn it OFF when you shut the bike off.

Otherwise fuel, from gravity, will continue to flow into the carbs. Not good.
:)

yep you got it. The Pingel should have three positions Off, Res and On. Reserve is half way between Off and On. It should be written on rather small letters on the rim just above the lever.

I leave my Pingel on all the time. If the float needle and seat are good and/or clean it won't leak into the engine.

Didn't know that Chef. Guess it shows how little I know about the inner working of carbs. I can clean the little buggers, though.:)

I still think, getting the habit of turning it off would be a good idea. Just in case the float needle and/or seat fails.

Yea or ney?:-k

You couldn't be more right. It's a good idea and should be a part of your riding process. It will save you trouble, for certain.
