A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just finished putting the cams in, but it does not look right to me?
Can my fellow expert members on the forum take a look at the photos and help??

Timing mark on T, 20 Links separate the 2 marks, but the ends of the cams do not look correct to me.

The "1" mark on exhaust cam (I can't see it) should be pointing level with gasket surface- this will bring the slots on cams ends "pointing" at each other. Then do the 20 pin stuff.
Please wait for confirmation from someone else.
Here's a pic from a guy down under- his pin count might be different though

Better check if that's the 1-4 T mark or the 2-3, and agree with looking at that 1 mark on the exhaust cam. The notch on the exhaust cam seems to be angling down, so my guess is your 1 mark is going to be below the gasket surface.

Although I'm counting 20 between 2 and 3, I'll add another voice to the crowd asking where is the number 1 mark located?

Yeah I think I stayed up too late working in this. Sure enough the #1 mark is below the gasket surface! Going to pull off and start over.:(

Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks Flyboy. I have had these cams on and off like 10 times and for the life of me cannot seem to get it right. Right now I took a step away to ponder. I can get the 1 lined up...this leaves the 2 arrow on pin #1, but it is at the back of the link on the chain on not the front...is that ok?

Suzuki Manual shows this:

Clymers show this:

Makes no difference if it is on the front or back pin of the link, as long as you have 20 pins from mark to mark and both marks are pointing up at 90 degrees to the casing and parallel to each other ;)

Remember to turn the engine by hand to check for interference first before you fire it up.

I got it! Thanks for the help! Plan is to have it going next weekend.

Thanks all!
