Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have about 10v going from the button to the relay. I checked it right before the relay and sure enough, you hit the button and juice goes through. Any other idea?? Im stumped!

and yet when you jumpered it to the same terminal it closed? did you jumper the 2 big terminals, or 1 big and the smaller one? you need to jumper between the main + from battery and the smaller +(from starter button) that pulls in the solenoid....if that doesn't work the solenoid/relay is bad

I jumped it from the 2 big terminals. There are only 2 on my relay, then the wire that comes from the start button it soldered on there.

This is what mine looks like. I just dont understand why it wont start the bike? I have power going to it, i have a good relay, there is power coming from the wire that comes from the start button, and when i touch the terminals together the bike turns over??

you need to check it by jumpering from the big terminal from battery to the wire that's soldered to starter button lead....when you jumpered between the 2 big terminals it bypasses the relay.... just showing you the starter works....

Rock on, follow Dave buddy. Thx for picking up my trail Dave. Darn work keeps pulling me away from the more important things

Ok i jumped it from the power terminal to the point where the start wire is soldered in and nothing. I have a hard time believing that the relay is bad, this is the 3rd one ive tried and i also used a couple of normal 12v relays to see if they would work and nothing. Any more ideas?? Thanks a lot for all of your help!

Sorry dood but that test is indicatiing a bad solinoid. It is not engaging. Did you test all three this way? Maybe you have more than one problem.

you DID have the solenoid/relay grounded when testing....?

I had it mounted to the metal plate that is next to that battery. Is there supposed to be a ground wire? All i have is the wire that goes to the starter on 1 terminal, and the pos battery cable, fuse box power and main fuse power on the other one. Where does the ground for the relay go?

there is no ground wire, it grounds through the metal case, you must have continuity between the metal case and the neg. battery terminal, then when you energize the wire from the starter button, it should close the solenoid/relay

YAHOOOO!! I finally got it! The relay wasnt grounded right, so i ran a wire from where the relay screws to the metal panel to the neg battery terminal and taadddaaaaa! Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys! Now if i could only get it to run.........

Your welcome...... :P

I think I told you that about three pages ago.

Remove the starter cover and see if there is 12 volts on the starter connection or not when you hit the starter button. If nothing is there remove the wire from the starter and check again, still nothing go back to the solenoid and see if it is present on the starter wire side there. Still nothing check the ground connections for the starter solenoid, make sure it clicks when you hit the button.

Adding an auxillery ground wire is good insurance against solenoid float which can damage the regulator and burn the contacts of the solenoid.
