DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

ok i need to replace atleast on plug cap it is cracked in a few places close to shattered actually now how do we go about getting new wires and caps?

also i have a set of BR8ES plugs here my bike calls for B8ES i know the R is for resistor can i run these plugs with any plug cap? or do i need to get a specific one?

i also would like to upgrade the wires to something more performance geared do they make better wires for us and in colors other then black?

should i use the oe style plug caps or rubber ones or what? and what part numbers how do i figure that out?

Plug caps unscrew from the wires, good idea to remove them and inspect for corrosion. Make sure you cut the wire back a bit (1/4") to expose fresh copper.

NGK replacement caps are a favorite here.

If you are running OEM coils, the plug wires don't come out of the coils...

yeah OEM coils as far as i can tell they have the goop around em at the coil.

what about R vs regular plugs does it matter?

The plugs shouldn't matter, either will be fine... If you have a radio or an on-board communication system, the R plugs are preferred to minimize electrical noise...

The Suzuki service manual for my 850GLZ lists .024"-.031" gaps, same plugs.

you CAN replace wires on stock coils, i have done it. someone asked about this just a couple weeks ago, you could probably find it in a search

Why replace wires? Unless they are really shot. Most of these old bikes had stranded wire ignition cables, unlike cars that had a supression wire with a fiberglass core. Your spark plug caps just screw on, with the screw in between wire and insulation to make contact. Just trim an inch or so off the end of the wire and screw on a new cap.

alrighty like i said the cap is what i am confused on, i want OE look so i guess i need the 120* long and short?

Hi Mr. kilog55,

For plug caps, you need 2 each - NGK XB05F and VB05F.

Thank you for your indulgence,
