Polishing motor before /after pics

i spent about 3 days polishing the crude off the side of the motor the pipes and the foot rest bracket i used steel wool 3 diffrent grades 1500 grit paper and mibro polish on my dremel its not done yet but allready the diffrence is 100%

So where do you find mibro polish? I have never heard of it.... and is it different from other polishes such as Mothers?

I got the polish at lowes its a bit of a pain in the azz to use compared to mothers but it shines mothers does more of a dull shine this stuff acually makes it look chrome

I used the lil dremel buffing wheel attachments,its alot of work but its worth it to me to get it shining like that.

heres another so u can see the pipe,im still far from finished with the polishing but im happy with the results so far

I'm currently in the process of restoring all my old aluminum. What dremel tools are you using? I'm just using 600 and 1000 wet paper then buffing over it. I have to use 200 grit in some places to get the nasty dings out in some places though.

this needs to happen to my GS6/550. Though the ultimate goal is to have a black engine with silver accents.

Im poss going to be adding some black accents to the motor since the bikes paint job is going to be black,but as my project moves along everything changes from whats gonna be polished to the paint scheme lol

It truly is a tough, cumbersome process. BUT when you are finished, having clean "like new" polished aluminum makes a HUGE improvement overall on your restoration!! Great job! BTW are you Dremeling off the clearcoat? If so, there is an easier way. Use paint/decal stripper. I use Zep , the stuff is awesome (and NASTY if you get it on your skin!!) Spray it on, let it sit for 10 min., and wipe it off.

Yeah I used air craft stripper on one of my covers.... within seconds of it hitting my knuckle man was it stinging!

I can't wait until I really get polishing. My 4 grits of sand paper and mounting drill buff are going to get rippin!

Im taking id all the way down to the alum the owner before me had painted some parts with a silver paint,im just sanding down till it gets shiny then buffing it out.
