A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

No power coming from headlights, coils and starter.... Checked fuses and ran a test light to wires. Seems like im not getting power to the wires with the red connectors in the rear of the bike.

Can someone give me some advise on whats going on?

1982 gs650 with 8k miles.

ignition switch connection in the headlight bucket could be melted.

Headlight is on Head fuse and coil and starter soleoind are on Ignition fuse.

How about power from main fuse, The small red wire at the fuse box?

How about power on the wire comming back from ignition switch, the orange wire at fuse box. THis orange wire is what powers the Head and the Ignition and the Signal fuse.

Not certain what you mean by the red connectors at rear of bike. What color wires on those connnetors?

Any way, to troubleshoot the problem of no headlight and no ignition lets test for power at the different wires at the fuse box.

Welcome to GSR. WHere in general are you located?

Will check the wire at the fuse.

The red connector runs back to the cdi box. Any way of testing it?

The ignitor (not a cdi) box is under air filter box just above swingarm pivot- the R/R (regulator) is also there and it has a red wire while the ignitor has orange/white wires.

Wires at fuses:

Big Red: from battery+ and goes to Main Fuse.
Small red: from Main fuse and goes to igntiion swtich.
Org/Red: from Headlight fuse.
Org/Grn: from Signal fuse
Org/Wht: from Ignition fuse, goes to killswtich, then to coils and ignitor.

You say problem is no power for headlight and for coils and starter solenoid.

If you want to check something on gthat red connector and if that is infact for the igntitior (I dont know if is or isnt):
The orange/white wire is gthe power to it (is power from Ignition fuse aftger going thru Kill Swtich, same as what goes to coils).
