    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

PM sent with my proposal. But yes, like i said in the PM, its best if you do them yourself from a financial standpoint But should you choose not to, then youve got my quotes. Thanks.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks guys for the help but I was looking for more extensive or total rebuild. I found a guy in Texas. I'll let you know costs and quality when the come back. Cheers

You'd be better off having Chuck do them.

If it's that George guy, I'll break it down for you

Cost -3X what anyone else charges
Quality - iffy
Time -you may see your carbs by June, maybe not

Chuck, Steve, Chef are a much better deal

Seconding the Texas guy if it is George. He has destroyed people's carbs. Ray.

Just what do you consider to be a "total rebuild"?

What we consider to be a "total rebuild" (and has worked quite well), is what Chuck has probably offered in his PM to you.

Total "strip and dip" of all the carbs bodies, float bowls and non-rubber parts.
Mechanical cleaning (wire poking) of holes in jets.
Replacement of ALL o-rings in carbs and fuel transfer tubes.
Inspection, evaluation and possible replacement of bowl gaskets.
Bench sync.
Pre-set mixture.

Please let us know what you think of the work that was done, if and when you get your carbs back.

Just for the record, Chuck, Chef and I will all have had your carbs back to you within two weeks.

Wow- membership has its privileges.... I will definitely keep these GS'ers in mind when/if I decide to rebuild mine. What other repair/replace/diagnose services do you guys offer?

Bill...He would be better off having you, me, Ray, Steve or the many others that do them right to do them.

But then again, I was gonna fully tear them down as i said in my PM..but I guess he didnt understand that fully. By rebuild, we all mean a full tear down and fully rebuilt from the bottom up.

And to the original poster, May we inquire as to if this guy in Texas is Wired George?? If it is, sad to tell you this, but youre gonne be without the crabs for 3 to 4 months...or maybe a lot longer. And when you DO FINALLY get them back, youll be having one of us redoing them anyways. For the love of God..PLEASE PLEASE tell us its not George!!!!

Where are you in "upstate NY"?

For the last few years, I spent quite a bit of time there, doing some contract work.
Unfortunately for you, I now have a job that keeps me home, otherwise you could have been one of my "weekend projects".

Most of my time there was either in Glens Falls or Saranac Lake, as well as a few places in Vermont, but I ranged as far as Syracuse and Boston  on a project.

Allie makes killer muffins.
Probably need to re-word that, if you don't mind. :-k

Yes, they are GOOD.
