DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Been compiling a list of the work I wanted to do on this thing since the initial restoration a few years ago. Being my rider for the last two years I have put off some much needed maintenance and modifications. I finally have the VFR 100% road worthy so I thought I would begin the process off breathing some new life into my old standby. Here we go....

Current pic, yes I know but trust me it needs attention.

First things first some fresh blood and a new filter.. :)

Bought a case of this stuff at Sams, worked out to about 12.50 a gallon.

One of the inconveniences of the V & H header is having to remove it to change the oil. The original header coating has begun to flake and peel and has some slight surface rust so a new ceramic coat to come while I have it off.

Ordered a set of new grips and balancers and some fresh powder coat to the risers.

I have a nice 1150 3" wheel I am going to fit for the rear. Modifying a B12 brake stay should provide me enough clearance to slide it in.

Always good time spent doing regular wrenching and a few cosmetic touchups. Your bikes continue to be some of the nicest I've ever seen, Joe.

Suspension is getting a complete overhaul, I purchased a Hagon rear from a member here a few years ago . Never been happy with the progressive springs up front so I decided to go with a set of Sonics matched with Race Tech gold valve emulators. Removing the anti-dives as soon as my block-offs arrive and a fresh set of seals while its apart.

Thanks Larry, wish you were still painting..:o

Me, too, at times, Joe. I get requests quite often still, so it makes me wonder sometimes. The larger rear wheel will look cool, color-matching it to the front..?

Actually I am toying with the 1150 swap front and rear. The front requires a little more engineering. I may powder coat them black, I can't seem to stay away from that look. :)

You've had plenty of practice when it comes to suspension mods, so I'm pretty sure it'll be worthy of the attention it's getting. I love the black wheel look..half my bikes have black wheels, too.

Hey, not to hijack your thread..:p..but, do you know if a set of Kawasaki KZ wheels will go on a GS1000 w/o a ton of mods? The ones that look like Morris wheels.. That's my new wheel swap idea. Love the look of magnesium colored Morris wheels..

Not certain, but I would think the rear would be relatively easy with the right spacing. As far as the front I have never seen it done but anything is possible..:)

Been debating this awhile but finally came up wit a recipe to fit the 1150 3.5" rear wheel. The Bandit 1200 brake stay is a direct bolt on with the 1150 caliper and the offset in the stay allows for a 150 on the rear with ease. Shown here with a 150/70/17. The only issue is the angle of the caliper but it appears to line up perfectly on the 700 rotor.

The weight of the bike is on the new Hagon in this photo, it looks like I may have gained almost 3/4 of inch in the rear compared to the original sagging stocker. It should give it a solid fresh stance after the front is complete.

With the brake stay issue resolved the 150 slid in with ease..
