    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok it appears that the title situation has been solved. Got ahold of Washington DMV. Title had been transferred to PO but they had his address wrong and couldn't get it to him. Being sent to him and he will sign over to me a mail it. One crisis averted.

Next problem is that both gsxr wheels are bent :mad:. I think he got these from Katman but that was back in '07. No telling what they have been through or if they are even the same rims. So if anyone knows of a good set of straight GSXR750/1100 rims for a good price let me know!
 
Ok new set of GSXR1100 wheels sourced. Next problem. Got a set of Ohlins locally. Who here can tell me the problem? Hint: it is not that they are eye/eye or wrong length; Ohlins can provide clevis's of any size. It's a little more sudtle.

Looks like the shaft on the right one is a bigger diameter. Also looks slightly bent, but that could just be the photo. Also the section just above the lower eye looks different.

Wrong/sacked springs?
Looks like the collar is wound down a long ways. I had an old set of Fox piggybacks that had two springs per leg for a dual compound rate. Not that it worked.
 
Looks like a fun project Russ.

Regarding those shocks, hope you aren't going to say something silly like the decal is on the wrong side. As far as eyelets on both sides is concern, this shouldn't be a problem since you will be modding the swingarm anyway and can put whatever kind of mount on it you want.

No Ed I wish it was something insignificant. It is not. I do feel better that no one else sees the problem. Ready for the answer?

Joe had it right all along (I had told him on the phone). They are both RIGHT SIDE shocks!!!!!!!! Hell I just assumed they were the same but each piggyback is angled. Each side is obviously angled in opposite directions. I am trying to get ahold of Ohlins to see if I can rectify the problem without having to buy one side (probably can't even do that-will have to buy set.)
 
Well I talked to someone at Ohlins and explained my shock predicament. He was perplexed as the only shcks they sell that are different on each side come on a snowmobile. Sent him some pics via email and this was his response:

"Hi Russell,

The reason that both shocks have the same cylinder head offset instead of left and right is because they weren?t designed as ?Twin? shocks. The CO 5951 is a single shock for the Cobra King 50 dirt bike (see attached spec card). Someone has taken 2 of them and used them as a twin shock application."

Just put somes skiis and 2 foot tread on that thing and be done with it! :D
 
Was just about to say the same as the Ohlins guy - those aren't twin shocks.

The twin shocks look like these.

Two different models: one fully adjustable, one standard.

And since they're made for a 50cc bike, I doubt the spring rate will be anything near what you need. Basically - someone screwed you out of your money.

Actually got some good news today on the shock debacle. Guy at Ohlins referred me to David Behrend, owner of Fast Bike Industries.

They the #1 Ohlins service center and David was very helpful and told me he thought that what I had was about 90% of what I need and we could rebuild them into a good useful set of shocks for my project for a reasonable sum. Will be fully adjustable. David was super knowledgeable and was actually kind of excited about working on an "interesting problem/project". Big relief.

Also found out he could rebuild the stock rear shock on my gsxr1100 for much cheaper than everyone else so will kill 2 birds with one stone.

So glad this deal worked out for you in the end after all the trouble I know it took you to get the machine. Will be watching the build with interest and I wish you luck with it.

That one in Denver I was trying to snag didn't work out so well so I'm still looking.... one day. Ho - hum!

Let me first say that I just discovered this thread, and it looks like an awesome project. I'm subscribed. It's great that you found someone who is excited about your custom project. That's rare these days.

I have rebuilt the rear shock from a 1995 GSXR 750 for my KZ1000 streetfighter project. I made a writeup on it on another forum. It's not really all that hard if you are willing and have the tools. I would understand if you still wanted to have him do it as you have plenty of hurdles on the way to your finished product.

Well it was pretty crusty Smokin' but the motor is good. Some conversion parts will have to be replaced; Gordon is coming to the rescue for wheels and possibly GSXR1100 gauges. My buddy wanted me to look at these gauges; what do you guys think?

I seen a GSXR with a gauge somewhat like that. He could also change the color to
different ones if he wanted. Something like Rob Wilton would have. Too modern for me........however i would have it if the price was right.
