A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Let me lead with this. I tried to search for it a few times but everytime this came up: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 262144 bytes) in /home/thegsres/public_html/_forum/search.php on line 1160
Using fewer search terms didn't help me much. So I don't know the correct order or placement of some parts and the part fiches weren't helping me much. My rebuild kit also seems to have an extra piece or two as far as I can tell.

So I'm here to ask for help now. I ordered the rebuild kit from z1 enterprises and it says it for rebuilding one caliper only so I got two. This is the z1 brake kit. And here are the parts inside the kit.

I can't seem to find a home for that smaller ring, but other than that there are two pieces of the other three parts in the kit. Is this kit right? Is the kit for both calipers? I'm at a loss.

Here are the parts that I have from my caliper I am unsure about:

Two of these... things...

How do these fit into the caliper? I thought it was part 5 on this but I ordered those and got two rubber O-Rings. So where do these parts go?

Are there O-rings that go on these?

And I'm not sure of the correct way to install these.

I know you guys are better at searching than I am (not for lack of trying, I've opened probably 15 different posts and gone through basscliff's site) so if someone knows of a good write up on putting these brakes back together that would also be helpful. The ones on basscliff's site are for different styles calipers.

Hi,

Your search terms are returning too many results. Try an "advanced" search using fewer terms, more specific terms, search only a specific section of the forum instead of "all open forums", or search "titles only". See: How To Search The GSR Forum.

Have a look at this too (found it on some guy's website):

Thank you for your indulgence,

The kit is for your rear brake caliper - not the front.
Well. I feel dumber now.
