    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know the answer to this......

A friend of mine took his C50 down to a shop to have ape hangers installed. It took three months but that is not the issue. The issue is we have all noticed the cables are tight and have no "loop" to them what so ever. These throttles have two cables, both of them have snapped at the throttle after less than two months of use. The shops first response was that the owner of the bike was probably twisting it too hard too many times. He was unwilling to look at it for the kid. I called and talked to him and expressed my disbelief that he wouldn't even look at it to make sure it wasn't something they did. He then said he would pick it up the next day. Well the next day is here and now he doesn't want pick it up because he doesn't want to be responsible for scratching it. Now mind you his rounds were to pick up other bikes.

What do you think?
 
I think he's a pile of horse crap and you should stay far away from them in the future. The problem is most likely cables that are too short for the Ape Hangers.
 
As someone who's been in a shop his entire adult life: That is crap on shop's part, wrong length cables or improper routing (probably just length), you don't guess on motorcycle parts (especially throttle and brake stuff), the tech should have never allowed that to leave his shop (binding or short cables are obvious, you always move bars left to right to check), he couldn't break those by "twisting too hard" when the right cables are used, remove those cables and measure them then get a longer length. VL800s are one of the easier bikes to tinker with these days. Also 3 months is ridiculous, so the tech is not only a hack, but a slow hack at that.

I agree with the others I believe the shop is at fault and should be held accountable. In the past I have purchased some kits when installing risers, or ape hangers, or higher rise bars. The kits came with all the over size cables, brake hoses, etc. Even a few companies will come with the longer wiring harnesses for the switches etc.. But still took too long and should have been checked before releasing it to the customer. I would recommend calling customer relations at Suzuki Motor Corp. and let them know what went on and they can possibly work out some kind of compensation. But being after market parts, and considered customizing it might be a big hurdle. I would still let them know about the shop so it could possibly save someone's or somebody else's life by being negligent in the work they performed. If they won't give you the customer relations phone number. Suzuki Headquarters is 714-996-7040 they should provide it and if that does not work I believe I have the customer relations hotline number at the shop. If not I can call the tech line and get it for you. Good luck.

I think it is part of the issue. Quite a big part. Three months? Were the bars hewn from billet steel? Even if they had to get custom cables made that would only be a couple of weeks to wait for them. Then extend the wiring. job done.

I think they made a mistake in their measurements and then tried to get what they had to fit.

The fact that they won't look at it says a lot about their guilt and a lot more about their reputation.

I appreciate the responses and I do agree the 3 months is part of the issue. They obviously could not figure out sizing and what they needed. I have ordered carb parts from them and they told me 2 weeks. At 3 weeks I called THEM and they said they were not in yet and quickly jumped off the phone. Every Genuine Suzuki part I have ordered has taken less than 2 weeks. Guess what? Two weeks later they called with my parts. The next two times I called them I never received a call back so I just totally moved on. It obvious there is a competence issue.

We have a gal that works in my parts department who used to work for Honda in parts so she was able to track down the part number and go to her sources and source out the cables and the pricing. I think part of the deal is the scam they are hiding. The part list is $25 a cable, the invoice shows he paid $60 a cable, we haven't even moved on to the bars yet.

The bike is going to my house and I am going to make it right. I think he should do something about it personally but I that is all I can do for him. I have called the manager personally and he told me "he is pulling on the throttle too hard"; translation, I am not going to do anything about it.

That manager, along with the tech and the business owners are incompetent negligent ****heads. They released a bike back to service that is unsafe, I can only imagine the other errors if the throttles were that bad. What a stupid dick the manager is, twisting the throttles to hard!

Go there no longer, stop wasting your time there, publish their business name and let the bashing begin!
