DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A 1982 GS850 G fuel tank has the same mounting style as a 1983 GS650 G right?

By same, I mean with the 2 rubbers on the front and the 2 mounting holes an the rear. I know some of the 650 and 850 tanks have a single bolt mount in the center of the rear of the tank. What Im doing is installing a larger tank from the 850 on the 650 and maybe going with a Cafe style on the bike.

Not sure about the holes on an '83, but the 850 tank is significantly longer than the 650. One of both in the shop now, can I measure it for you?

The 1981 650G frame has the two rear mount holes... The 1980 850G has just the one. The frame is different in that area, can't get a good measurement. The distance is closer than I had thought. The 650 frame and tank is actually wider than the 850 in between the hockey puck mounts in the front, so I couldn't put the 850 tank on the 650 as a test. Sorry, I'm not much help.

no sweat. I appreciate the effort. I thought I had measured an 850 with the same mounting style as my 650 and found they were only a couple 1/4" or so difference. But for the life of me, I dont remember if I measured between the front mounts. Id hate to buy a tank that requires more fabbing than just getting another 650 tank and just splitting it. May end up being the way to go though.

Thanks again.
