• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Yes, I have been there before, but still want to go back when I have a couple of hours.
It was around sunset when I was there and the trees muted the light even more. It was nice to not have to worry about camera shake for a change.

It's a interesting pic to me in that it looks so much better and detailed on a larger screen.

My almost 15 year old step-son Paul has Spina Bifida which means he's paralyzed from the waist down and obviously unable to participate in many sports. However, he begged to be the manager of his 8th grade football team this year and has made every practice and game. As typical for this time of year, the coaches scheduled tonight's game to be at the high school field. Additionally, in a special thank you for his assistance, the coaches designed a play that would allow him to actually be on the field. Of course, the visiting team helped out and a local news station was onsite to videotape the game. In fact, Paul and mom get to be on that station's morning show tomorrow.

Are you ready for some football? (7th grade was on the field)

Some of you might remember this post from back in October but what many don't know is that my step-son Paul received the game ball afterwards signed by all of his team members. I attempted to make a display case for it before his birthday but messed up on my measurements. I finally remade and presented it to him today. The main case is made from red oak while the football and plaque stands are made from walnut and a mirror is on the back wall so he can see all of the writing.

Got out on the bike for a bit today, a little windy but 62 degrees. This is in a Wildlife Refuge a few miles Southwest of the house. The signature pic is same location, different season and my other bike.

Weather's not playing nice to allow for any riding but was out in the pickup tonight (2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty Diesel) when I managed to get this shot:

I bought the truck in 2006 with about 35,000 miles or so

In keeping with the wildlife theme these are from a series of shots I took at a Bison roadblock while riding my 1100E through Yellowstone back in 2012.

We've noticed a distinct decline in the song birds at our feeders the last week or so. Then I noticed this Merlin hiding in a nearby tree ...wonder how long he's been hanging out there.
