• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

(LST= Landing Ship Tank)
I think there are quite a few men that have been on one of those that have a different interpretation of those letters. :-k

LST = Large Stationary Target.

I can understand someone having that Long Stationary Target idea when it landed on the beach. Or the Large Slow Target when underway.

The history of that particular one includes Normandy, .....
... and Salerno Italy which means it is possible that it included my uncle (that I am named after), KIA about 2 weeks later.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

My almost 15 year old step-son Paul has Spina Bifida which means he's paralyzed from the waist down and obviously unable to participate in many sports. However, he begged to be the manager of his 8th grade football team this year and has made every practice and game. As typical for this time of year, the coaches scheduled tonight's game to be at the high school field. Additionally, in a special thank you for his assistance, the coaches designed a play that would allow him to actually be on the field. Of course, the visiting team helped out and a local news station was onsite to videotape the game. In fact, Paul and mom get to be on that station's morning show tomorrow.

Yes, was a prominent poster the first few years I was on here. He attended a rally or two (S.E.) and hosted some get togethers near his place (Leto FL?), and posted pics of them all.

Hey, were you the guy that was visiting him, and was it you or him that had a test ride go wrong (something locked up a wheel, IIRC), so posted pics of lots of road rash while changing bandages ....?

>>>>>>>>>>>Later note
Maybe it was Painter Dave (another fine character, from the past, no longer with us).

No, that was the late Dave Davis (painterdave) who went over the bars. I still have those road rash pics somewhere.

Went out on the 550 today. Stopped by one of the "little" horse farms in the area!IMG_0291.jpg

"Little" is a relative term when it comes to Bluegrass and Horse farms........

During my recent walk arounds I have been anxiously waiting for the moon to come around, but the weather has not cooperated. Iast night was good, and I was hoping to get pics tonight when the moon was lower, but its cloudy / misty tonight so I walked around town again.

While I was having coffee on a Saturday morning, this porcelain frog sitting in the sunlight just caught my eye.
