A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Looks like I need to re-jet. I am getting carbon inside the end of my exhaust so I am way to rich but I still get popping. I do not know or see where there could be a vacuum leak any more and water does not cause a drop in idle (Unless I spray it in the intake DUH!)

I have some sort of aftermarket 4 - 2 exhaust w/o a crossover. Anyone have any jet kit suggestions and order links?

I DO want to get rid of my exhaust entirely for this one:

But it is going to be some time before I have the $$$$ for that :P

Or perhaps I should go for an OEM one like this:

Either way I am gonna drop the muffler and try using some resonators. I know it aint a harley but I like some rumble out of my bike ;)

The best way to check your rich/lean situation is to do plug chops at various throttle settings (usually 1/8 (just off idle), 1/4 and full throttle. Your plug color is the best indicator of lean/rich.

But aside from all that, why go through all the trouble of re-setting your carbs, re-jetting (if that is required) if you're just going to get a different exhaust? You're back to square one.

I would get the exhaust you want on there first, and then go from there.

Welllllll its kinds running like poo cause I am fouling up my plugs something fierce and the occasional sputter is embarrassing lol. If I make it run better it will sputter a lot :P

All your plugs are fouling? That also could be weak spark, or perhaps a problem with your petcock, floats set incorrectly. Mixture screws set correctly? Maybe you've checked out all other options............but just trying to get more info. here. It could be something other than a jetting problem.

I had the symptoms you described exactly. I have VM carbs of course, but it turned out my mixture screws were way off.

My mixture screw:
1&4 - 2.5 turns out
2&3 - 3 turns out

Petcock is brand new OEM
Floats are exact, I think they were 22 or 23 mm. I set them to OEM specs.
Weak spark now thats possible. New Coils are on my list. The plugs are new. I could try a hotter plug. Last new set I pulled out were all fouled. I have not pulled the current new set yet though.

I want to get a colortune here as soon as money starts coming in again.

check you carb balance. 4 to 2 w/o x-over all the carb should be at same level,
