A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 79 gs1000e with leaky carbs. I'm planning to rebuild the carbs but also wanted to do the petcock. Bike cliff seems to recommend a new one, but looks like they run around $300:eek: are there any successful rebuild kits out there? If so where's the best place to buy? Thanks

So, no one sells a decent rebuild kit for a gs1000?

The only options are :|

-a new 750 (slightly different)
-an overpriced oem assembly
-Swap to a pingel
-Use a k&l kit that will deteriorate sooner than it should

Is that about right?

Remind me (PM) and I can send you pictures of the 1000 petcock next to the 750 petcock tomorrow evening. I am expecting three new 750 ones in tomorrows shipment and have plenty of 1000's on the shelf. ;)

I'd crack the petcock open and take a look. If there isn't any wear in the zinc body it should be rebuildable, assuming you can find a suitable kit. I just rebuilt the petcock from my KZ750 and it turned out nicely. 44mm spacing by the way...

The metal looks fine, it's a suitable kit that seems that seems elusive. It seems there's a lot of issues with buying the correct rubber with these bikes

I just bought one from parts outlaw for under fifty for a 81 1100 e. Long story short made a substanual order from them, no comformation 7 days later I called them, said they just sent my order, that was a friday no tracking #, come Monday calld again they said the order was sitting in front of him and he would overnight it which they did. In the long run I was happy with them. The guy I spoke to said he was not happy with their site and they where in the process of changing it so orders could be tracked better. Gave him the info on our site, told him he would be inpressed and just might be good for business. Hope he checks us out.
