I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

So I just finished installing the cylinders and headers this afternoon, and then I read that the rectangular gasket in between them around the cam chain tunnel should be installed along with some liquid gasket. On a scale of :( to , how important is it that I dissasemble and do this?

The factory Suzuki service manual doesn't mention anything about that O-ring, so I take that to mean you don't need anything on it. Hope you used original Suzuki gaskets. Aftermarket have a bad reputation for leaking.

Edit: on more review, I don't even see that O-ring listed anywhere in the parts fishe or FSM. Did you buy an aftermarket gasket kit?

Here is what the OEM head gasket looks like...http://www.ebay.com/itm/11140-34811...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
No O-ring with this type gasket.

I did use an aftermarket gasket kit, but all the gaskets seemed to be pretty good quality. I guess I'll see if I'm one of the lucky/unlucky ones.

The square o-ring is definitely part of the bike, it sits on top of the cylinders encricling the cam chain cavity in it's own special little groove. It was there durring disassembly and a new one came with my gasket kit.

Also, your picture reminded me, my bike does not have a bolt, or place for a bolt front and center and as of now the gasket is just hanging out. I'm just going to trim that little extra nub, but I'm not sure why it's there in the first place.

A friend told me...........

They did use the square o-ring! So does the '78 & 79.

And yes, your new gasket sticks out where the '78 model change ADDED the boss and bolt in the front to help stop leaking.

I replaced the gasket, but didn't use any extra liquid gasket to "seat it". There didn't seem to be any gasket residue when I tore down the engine, so I think I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and pray it won't cause any issues.:twistedevil:
