If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi Guys -

I am wanting to repaint the '83 GS1100E this winter, and does anybody here have a crossover to a colorite paint code for Suzuki Candy Gypsy Red-3 paint?

The last time I tried having it color matched, it matched in the sun perfect, but not in the shade, so I'm hoping somebody else here has it figured out.

You have to match the color and the gold metal flake in the paint. That is why it changes color so much in the sun.
However too much gold flake will turn the red into orange as well.

You need a complete set of body work?

I plan to repaint it all up perfect, do you have a nice set of bodywork already done?

The body work in the picture less fairing but an oem fender not gsxr(painted all same time). Not perfect but if you color sand an buff it will be close.

I'm mainly wanting it to all look the same, so what do you have left, sidecovers, tailsection, fender, and tank?

Thanks - will you PM me with how much you would take for the bodywork, and what part of the world you are in?

I'm in Tucson (see profile). Here is a slide show. When you see the pictures, nothing was ever cracked, but I heavily reinforced all high stress areas using waterproof glass impregnated polyester resins. All side cover posts are made of aluminum.

Full lock set and keys available. The gas tank has a Pingle with refurbished float sensor. F. fender was painted with the rest of the body work but stuck in a box as I used a GSXR F fender. All decals are buried under teh clear coat. The paint was top quality PPG with tank stripped bare and primed and Por-15 sealed inside prior to paint.

paint was applied in about 2010, Bike was ridden only a hand full of times between 2012 and now.

I just wanted to know if you did find any paint ?
I too need some "Candy gypsy red" for my 1980 gs550et.

I can get it at: http://www.rsbikepaint.com (hellish expensive) (I got my Kwak 750R1 paint (Firecracker red) from halfords
mixed and did the whole bike and it was and is fine)
But is there a cheaper - simpler option ? or do i have to go for the full 2 stage paint they sell
even though the area is on the seams of the tank - barely visible ?

Sorry to jump into the thread but i didnt catch if you found any paint ?

(P.S i also need some "marble canadian blue" for my 1980 gsx 250)

FWIW Dupli-color has a Chrysler PR4 Poppy Red/Flame RED ACC0419 which is a very close match to the 1983 GS1100ED RED except it has no gold flake pearl in it. It work is well for touchup and would work well as a base color ,but be prepared to mix some PPG quality clear with a smidgen of the gold leaf to get the right effect.

To do this start with the gold leaf clear over the base color going in smooth overlapping patterns to get good consistency (it will show if you are crappy). Then after that tacks off a bit, hose it with plain clear and build up as desired.

Many thanks. Thing is cant seem to get it easily in the uk - always the case.

I can use a site called : http://www.rsbikepaint.com and can get any paint - so it seems but the expense.

Having similar problems finding a universal color to match the Suzuki RED, I discovered there is nothing magic about that color(other than the pearl). I went to an automotive store and used the touchup paint selection for closest match.
