DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello this is my first post here. Been on the site for a little while but never posted.
So here is my question, I have read every post on the relay mod and please excuse my ignorance but this is not sinking in. In fact I tried it this weekend and fried one of my coils. :-(
Bike 81 GS750
I have a four post relay from autozone.
I got the the wire from the battery thru inline fuse to post 30
I have a ground from the fame to post 85
Here is where I get lost the coils have two wires coming from each.
orange white stripe / black with yellow stripe
orange white stripe / white
Where do these go?
Do you leave the coils plugged in at the white plastic plugs and splice the wires in or cut them completely and abandon the wiring on the wiring harness side??:-?:-?
All the diagrams on here only show one wire coming from each coil, I have two from each.:-?
Does anyone have a more descriptive diagram or some actual pictures they could post.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should have a replacement coil this week and would love to get this done.

the orange and whites do the same thing, supply power to the coils...

cut them both, and lead them from the coils to the relay post 87

now take the other end of the wires, that goes into your factory harness and eventually leads to the kill switch, and lead those 2 orange and whites to post 86 on the relay

leave the black and yellow, and the white wire alone... they go to the points/sending unit and tell the coils when to fire.. essentially

Man I wish I would have asked this question before I fried one of my coils. That is a very clear description. I dont know why but the dozen other threads on the same subject just didnt make any sense to me. Thank you very much.
