A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bought some new insulators.
Got one screw to back out with some tapping on the end of the screwdriver with a hammer, the other one didnt move and started to strip.
Should've came on here first before attempting, but thought it would've been somewhat easy to do.

Best way now to avoid screwing them up anymore.

The screws on those (and everything else) are very soft. What works best for me is a cold chisel on the head of the screw in a CCW direction. Usually a few hard taps will break it loose. Had to do that on an oil strainer the other day. Don't want to be grinding in the oil pan.... No parts were harmed during this exercise, and I was able to go both ways by myself.

impact driver

and use a JIS screwdriver, not a Phillips

Treat with WD-40 or any penetrating solution.

Bang it head on with a big hammer.

Cut a big slot with your Dremmel and then use a regular tight fitting bit in your impact driver. If you have one screw out you might be able to try moving the whole piece to help loosen it.

If you already have one screw out then tap the boot with a hammer counter clockwise to rotate the boot. Once it rotates it usually begins to unscrew the remaining bolt. You can usually use a pair of vise grips with a good bite and rotate the screw. Many times, once the screw begins to turn, it will easily unscrew with a screw driver or simple pliers.

Grab the intake manifold with channel locks and twist counterclockwise if one screw is out. This will often twist the screw also just enough to break it loose. Wont hurt anything since your gonna replace them anyway and youll be replacing the orings as well so twist away. You got nothing to loose. Get rid of the phillips heads and put in allen head when you have them off. and if the phillips head is crap and the twisting doesnt break it loose, then dremel a slot in for a flat tip impact driver bit.

EDIT...didnt read all the responses so I guess im just echoing the above approaches.
