replacing GS1000L handlebars

I just bought a GS1000L with the buckhorn handlebars. I don't mind height or pullback but the bar ends are angled too far towards me... these would be called buckhorn style and I want to replace them with bars where I didn't have to hunch over (like the stock) but the bar ends would go out towards the sides more than coming straight back. Anyone do this change and can give me some tips on rise, width and pull back or an actual handlebar they swapped to?

Look for stock "E" or "G" handlebars. MUCH more comfortable.

Are you riding behind a windshield? If not, look to aftermarket bars with a "Daytona" or "Superbike" bend.
They will lean you forward into the wind a bit.

My 850L came with bars from a Honda Nighthawk. They were comfortable though a little bent. I replaced them with a set from a Triumph T150V Trident. Still comfortable.

Bikemaster makes a large assortment of bars, available from a lot of online stores. It's all about how tall you are, how long your arms are and what you like.
It's up to you to figure out what suits you.

Great info. The site Cyrano gave me is very interesting. I know how to measure for handlebars and don't wish to hunch over as I am not a spring chicken anymore. Prefer to ride upright and am 5'10" and fairly short arms. Most important thing is wrist angle and the buckhorns are not comfy for my wrists. I ended up buying some EMGO bars off eBay:

Diameter: 7/8"
Width: 31"
Pullback: 3-1/4"
Center Width: 7-1/2"
Rise: 8-1/2"

These bars seem to have a better angle for the wrists and are high enough where I won't be leaning into the wind; understand about the windshield. Not sure if I will use one. I have a National Cycle Deflector windshield (universal) that I am not using and will likely give it a shot. Also have a Memphis Shades obsolete windshield mounted on my CB1100A and may try it if the Deflector doesn't work well. It is a bit larger with better cover and would look OK... I have had it mounted to quite a few bikes in the past.
