A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey guys -

I found a thread about how to get the gauges open. It would involve cutting them open with a dremel, that is something I can do - my problem is, how would I go about restoring or repainting the gauge plates?

The phillips screws that sit in the center of the gauge and hold the plates down rattled out and for the better part of a year they wore grooves and scraped off paint along the bottom side of my plates.

Can I repaint these or replace them? If I can replace them, where do I look for them? I've checked most of the vendors on the GSR greetings site and I don't see anything useful.

If I can repaint them I'll probably do that... I have a couple friends who are very good with small objects. If anyone can advise otherwise, please do!

If the damage is on the bottom side of the gauge faces, you could try air brushing some flat brown paint IF you can find the correct color. Otherwise find a set of parts gauges to rob the dials from.

Yeah, it's mostly contained to the bottom... I'll see what I can find then. But My thought is that it will be difficult - what with the paint being faded >_<

I may just take em to my friends and see if one of them can re-paint them by hand. Orrr.... I could autocad a sketch up and make stencils? ... That one may actually work, I'll look into it!
