    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Running with the tank off during carb sync ?????

I have an 82 GS1100E with K & N pods and a Kerker 4to1 exhaust. During the winter I cleaned and re-jetted my carbs with a stage 3 jet kit. Now I have the carbs back on the bike, running and I need to sync. I have a mercury sync took that I used last year. I put a longer fuel line on the tank so I can slightly move it out of the way. My biggest problem was that the gas thank is still on the bike.

How can I supply the cards with fuel with the tank off? I need some ideas on a home rigged fuel feed system. Can anyone help?

Yup. I used an empty plastic oil quart bottle. I drilled a hole in the screw cap perfectly sized for one of those inline feul filters, then ran a line form that to the carbs. I used a hot glue gun to seal the feul filter to the screw cap. Make sure to punch a hole to vent- I used a screw with a rubber washer on it so when I fill the bottle up it stays sealed.

Make sure you get a fan to run over the engine while you run it- these bikes can heat up quick!
 
I use the gas tank off my snowblower. I just undo two screws and disconnect the fuel line and voila! I suppose the lawnmower tank would work as well.

I just set the tank sideways on the seat and bungi cord it in place. I did not even have to lenghthen the fuel line. I did put a longer vacumn line on for the vacumn petcock. Wked. great.

I have heard of using the windshield washing fluid tanks off a car. Probably has a hole the right size in it to take a fule line.
 
I put the tank a couple of feet away on my workmate bench. I use 3' fuel/vacuum lines.
 
Don't forget to plug the vac pipe if you're using a remote tank or it'll really screw up your carb balancing!!!

use a fuel filter to join the existing hose that goes to the carbs from the tank to a extra long peice of extra hose and then hook the extra long peice of hose up to the tank, get a small table and set the tank on it, as long as the gas is higher then the bowls you will be fine. set the petcock on prim and away you go.

Um, what size hose do you need to connect the bottle up to the carbs.

I want to make mine and I went out and got some hose that was clear and it was too small to go over the fuel inlet nipple on the carb. I even tried heating and streching it but the hose tore up instead.
Then after trying again heating streching and letting it cool the hose apparently was too soft to push onto the nipple and it kept buckling.
Went to use the needle nose pliers to pull it on and it tore again.
I believe the heat compromises the strength of that particular hose.

Anyhow it was too small. So what is the right size?

I just discovered this yesterday. My dad is diabetic and always has these little plastic bags with clear hose and hose shut off already installed. He asked me if I could use it and I figured I'd remove and keep the hose. Yesterday I'm going to sync my carbs and am looking for the gas can I usually use and there on the wall is the gag and hose. I figured what the hay. This thing works perfect. Hang it on the clutch lever, add pint of gas, hose hooks right up, open shut off and gas flows perfect. The bag is marked sitz bath and I assume it can be purchased at any wallgreens or Osco for very little money. It has an opening at top that hose from gas can will fit in so just add enough gas to do the job. It's clear so you can see when you have to add more gas. Have never seen anything work this well for syncing carbs.

I picked up some 5/16 hose yesterday but didn't get to put it on. Today will be the day.
