    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rustolium Engine Pimer?

What's up guys?

Has anyone ever used rustolium high temp engine primer before on your motor? If so can you give me some info on it please?

I've used various Rustoleum primers. They work fine. But don't expect any rattle can paint to hold up to abuse like automotive paints that use hardeners or powder coat. I try to keep the rattle can stuff to pieces that don't get a lot of use or exposure to chemicals or the elements if I want it to last.
 
I've used both their primer and their new-ish line of high temp engine paints. I actually like the way it sprays and goes down better than the Duplicolor products I've used for years. I DIDN'T like their shades however. The aluminum (they have two different shades of that that I have found and neither are "correct") didn't look right, and the black has a very "chocolate" quality to it in bright direct sunlight.
Another thing I found, and this is likely more important than anything else, is that like Krylon, the Rustoleum products are not compatible with Duplicolor products. After painting an engine with the Rusto black (including the side covers and all) after many many hours of prep, I decided that it didn't look close enough to Suzi black as the Duplicolor product did. I gave it a couple days to off gas and then scuffed it up to repaint with Duplicolor. Almost instantly upon hitting the engine, the Duplicolor wrinkled and curled like it was being layed down over an oily surface....

After realizing what was happening, I then spent a couple of days using aircraft stripper to remove all the paint from the engine and covers to start fresh. That was a nightmare, a mess, and a heap of work....
